AND Then There Was Calm…..

QIC: Cherry Pie

Date: November 20, 2021

PAX: Spicoli, Root Canal, Mutton, Drip, Lamb Chop

At the last minute and in a moment of weakness YHC volunteered to substi-Q Impossible Situation.  Like that second helping of Thanksgiving mash potatoes & gravy…the opportunity was too hard to pass up.  Cherry Pie broke email protocol in an effort to stir up some regulars from years past (the effort failed…names will not be mentioned Vig, Cheerio, Glazer, Swiss Miss, Goose, Cobra, Bueller, etc, etc.).  Upon arrival, time 6:57, a lone pax (young Lamb Chop no less) stood at the ready.  As the clock reached launch hour, another single car arrived and Drip emerged…yhc decided to do something completely out of character and begin with an extended stretchy stretch (Root Canal terminology)…sure enough, by 7:08 an additional three pax had arrived, the last of which was Mr. Spicoli (surprise, surprise, surprise!).  Mutton quietly slipped in somewhere in between.  The pace of the morning was intentionally moderate and when the mosey became TOO mosey’ish, the Q provided a few “words of encouragement”.  Yet, despite the consistent exchange of pleasantries among the pax, the decibel level never reached the heightened shrill often experienced on Saturday mornings.  After a period of reflection and somewhere mid-beatdown, Drip, in a moment of clarity, pointed out the absence of PALIN.  As if discovering a blissful new world, the pax was awakened to the relative serenity and absolute calm.  Who knew that the absence of our rather loud friend would make such a difference?!  Over the course of the remaining time a pax would occasionally chime in….”If Palin were here….”  If he only had been!

In truth, Palin was dearly missed.  The morning was quiet and completely without incident…fun, but not as fun as it could have been.
