Playing Cards at Redline

QIC: Chomper

Date: 07/28/2020

PAX: Velvet, Suede, Balco, Double Wide, Manscape, Valdez, Winklevoss, Interference, Ramses, Greenspan, and Chomper

11 Pax gathered in the humid gloom this morning to pursue speed at the Hanes Park track by playing cards.

Warm-O-Rama

Warm-up stroll around Hanes Park (just over a mile)

The Thang

400M Changing Gears: 50% effort in the firstĀ  200, 75% effort for 100, and 100% effort for the last 100

YHC brought a deck of cards and some cardboard.

Clubs = 100M with 100M recovery
Diamonds = 200M with 200M recovery
Spades = 300M with 200M recovery
Hearts = 400M with 200M recovery
Ace = Runner’s choice

PAX were invited to draw a card and run the corresponding distance with emphasis on recovery following the hard sprint. If they wanted to sprint with someone they could flip one card and run together, though maintaining proper social distancing. The PAX almost made it through the whole deck of cards.

NMM

The only mumblechatter YHC was privy to was after Winklevoss drew 3 clubs in a row (100M). He opted to let Greenspan and YHC run the third 100M in a row, while he chose a different card. YHC is unsure if any other PAX didn’t like their card, discarded it and drew a different card. Glad the PAX accepted YHC’s effort to add a little creativity to his Redline Q.
