More reps than degrees at Purgatory

The weather has been wild and unpredictable here in the Dash.  Rain, snow, and 60 degree temps – all in the past week!  Today’s 21 degree temps and a Q by Greenacres promised one thing….pain.

 

Despite the cold temps and unforgiving breeze, 9 brave Pax arrived for this week at (pun intended) Purgatory.

 

Warm-o-Rama

While the selection of exercises may have been commonplace, the number of reps was certainly NOT!

We completed SSH, Whirly with the clap, Abe Vigoda, Arms swirly things (forward and reverse), and merkins.  At least 20-30 reps for each exercise.  Already excessive.  A mere foreshadowing of what was to come.

THE THANG

“Funny walk” towards the Lido deck.  Imagine walking toy soldiers.  Once at top of hill, mosey the rest of the way to the deck.

Grab some bench.

Howling Monkeys (Pax in a circle.  Everyone assume monkey humper position.  First pax does 10 reps of monkey humpers.  Once he is finished, the next pax does 10 monkey humpers.  Continue until all pax have done monkey humpers).

Mosey towards rock pile (taking the grassy hill and being careful to look for the holes)

 

Grab a “challenging” rock for:

 

Curls.  Here is where the Q betrayed the Pax.  He allowed Offsides to call 21s.  Normally, 21s consist of 7 reps of bottom to middle range of motion, 7 reps of middle to upper range of motion, and 7 full range of motion).  Did Offsides do this…..NO NO NO.  For some reason, he thought it was appropriate for the Pax to do 21 reps of the bottom to middle range of motion, and then 21 reps of the middle to upper range of motion.  So, yeah….that sucked.

Skull Crushers x 20 IC

Slightly bent over rows x 20 IC

 

Put down rocks and run a lap around the circle area.

 

REPEATO

 

Return rocks and mosey to playground near the tennis courts.  As Greenacres said, it would not be one of his Qs without pull ups.

 

Break out into groups of 3.  One group performs 10 pull ups (each pax), one group 20 merkins (each pax), and one group 30 squats.  Once done, rotate to next station.  Continue for 10 minutes.  All told, each group got through two full cycles of each exercise.

(This exercise may be short and seem innocent enough.  Let YHC assure you…it was not.  Awful, miserable it was.

 

Mosey back to start for MARY

Again, a stupid number of reps performed for Mary exercises:  low flutter, LBCs, mutton crunches, heels to heaven, and plank.

YHC has had the pleasure of attending 3 beatdowns led by Greenacres, and consider myself fortunate to still be alive.

The phrase “can we please run instead of doing this” was uttered more than once.  And was clearly what all Pax were thinking.

WB – High Cotton may have been a bit disrespectful to his elders.

6 of the 9 Pax were #Respect or older.
