Over the Hill at Parliament

QIC: SGT Schultz

Date: October 8, 2019

PAX: Bolero, Boomerang, Fender, Gucci, SGT Schultz, TPS,

6 PAX posted this morning for another installment of Parliament, the Dash’s Most Popular and Stylish Non-Running Workout.

WARMARAMA:   A quick flurry of SSHs, Hillbillies, Whirly’s with a Clap, an assortment of hamstring and groin stretches, as well as Seal Claps.   (YHC had something else on my mind when we commenced Seal Clapping, resulting in my cadence — famous worldwide — coming out broken and stupid, much to the amusement of Boomerang.)

THE THANG

PAIN STATION 1:   The PAX moseyed in a relaxed manner (so that we could not be accused of running) to the bottom of Hank’s Hill in the back of Southwest Elementary, where YHC had set up lights at the bottom and top of the hill to help guide the PAX in the gloom.   For those who haven’t experienced it, Hank’s Hill is very steep and about 40 yards from the bottom to the top.  Some might accuse it of being somewhat of a bitch.  We performed two sets of sevens (an abbreviated form of 11’s), as follows:

  • SET ONE:  Combat Merkins at the bottom of the hill, Burpees at the top.   The PAX walked or jogged backwards to ascend the hill — great fun for the quads!   Mosey or walk downhill
  • SET TWO:  Sumo Squats at the bottom of the hill, Crunchy Frogs at the top.  Bear-crawl to ascend the hill; mosey or walk back down

PAIN STATION 2:   Block work near the dumpsters, which did not stink so bad today.    Pair off into buddy teams for 21’s with a cinder block.    We completed 1 set of curls.  With only 5 minutes left in the workout, we agreed to terminate the block workout before starting a set of overhead presses and instead return to the parking lot for Mary.

MARY:   Performed by committee.   Fender led us in a punishing set of American Hammers, going all the way to 30 with changes in speed — at times frenetic and other times the speed of synapse in Schultzy’s brain.  TPS followed with LBCs, and Gucci took us out with a set of Alabama Prom Dates.  (Glad I went to prom in Virginia!)

NMM:

  • Fender will be leading his VQ at Charlie Foxtrot on Saturday.  Come on out and support him as he hurts everybody in a kinder, gentler way
  • New Hope Presbyterian Church (located near the Clemmons YMCA) will be holding its Fall Festival on Saturday, October 19 from 11-3

COT:

  • Prayers for Ziggy Stardust and his health issues — We need to rally around our brother and be there to support him
  • Praises for the good news that Little House and his wife received about their little boy, Mason, on Friday.   The prognosis is good and the treatment time will (hopefully) be much shorter than it might have otherwise been.  Prayers that the remaining treatments will go well and take care of the matter for good.
  • Praises and prayers for Burns and his wife — they are expecting twins!!!

Gucci took us out in prayer, thanking our Lord for all of our many Blessings, and asking Him to watch over us.

Bolero with the back to back posts! Good to have him back. YHC would have thought that the Q would have learned his lesson about the combat merkins from how well received they were at Purgatory. Oh well.
