Kevin’s Home Alone Fun House at Impossible Situation!

QIC: Hedwig

Date: 2/17/2018

PAX: Van Gough, Cheesesteak, Roosevelt, Sleeper, Stardust (WD), Zima, Roadapple, Hedwig (WB)

Comments were made about YHC’s resemblance to Kevin in Home Alone.  As such, it was only fitting to design a Home Alone themed beatdown.  The PAX were warned that it was going to be, in the words of Uncle Frank, “horrible, just horrible.”  As so it was.

The PAX started off with some light warm-o-rama:

  • 15 Side Straddle Hop
  • 10 Imperial Walkers
  • 10 Abe Vigodas

YHC had 8 sheets of paper, each with one of Kevin’s famous pranks.  The PAX took turns choosing – some chose wisely, others (aka Van Gough), chose poorly.  They went something like this:

Harry’s Head Getting the Blowtorch:  Abs of Fire in the Parking Lot

  • Cross Country Abs (105 crunches – 15 with legs straight, 15 with legs bent, 15 with legs 90 degrees, 15 with legs 180 degrees, 15 with legs 90 degrees, 15 with legs bent, 15 with legs straight)
  • 20 American Hammers
  • 15 Rosalitas (Zima began to complain…we were barely 10 minutes into the workout.  It was just too much for him.)
  • 15 Penguin Crunches
  • 10 Iron Crosses
  • 10 Partner Leg Throws (partner 1 lies flat and grabs partner 2’s ankles, partner 2 throws partner 1’s legs straight, to the left, and the right) (triple count)

Kevin’s Favorite:  The Cindy at the Pullup Bars at Reynolds HS

No workout of YHC’s would be complete without it having some resemblance of a Murph.  Alas, the PAX did Cindys:

  • Mosey to the pullup bars
  • 10 Pullups
  • 15 Merkins
  • 20 Squats
  • Repeato x1 (twice total)

Arachnophobia:  ALARM at the Track

  • Mosey to the track
  • A (arms):  10 Burpees
  • L (legs):  10 Squat Jumps
  • A (abs):  15 Mountain Climbers (double count)
  • R (run):  sprint the straightaway of the track
  • M (merkins):  10 Merkins
  • Buddy carry across the curved part of the track

Once at the straightaway, repeat the ALARM and buddy carry the next curved section (back at the starting spot)

Uncle Frank’s “Horrible, Horrible”:  The Brookstown Street Terror

  • Mosey to the base of Brookstown
  • 10 Squat Jumps
  • 10 Lunges (single count)
  • Repeato until Brookstown intersects with Carolina Street
  • 50 Side Straddle Hops in cadence (the PAX began to wither and YHC was so out of breathe he couldn’t count the cadence…)

BB Gun Through the Doggie Door:  Stairway of Pain at Wiley

  • Mosey to the the stairs at Wiley
  • 1st Set of Stairs:  Hop Scotch (In/Out) Jumps
  • 2nd Set of Stairs:  mosey down
  • 3rd Set of Stairs:  Long Jumps to the Top!
  • 15 Dry Docks
  • Repeato (twice total)

Keep the Change, Ya Filthy Animal at Education Hill

  • Mosey to Education Hill
  • Jacob’s Ladder to 5 with Partner Hand Slap Merkins and Monkey Humpers

McCallister Door Knob

  • Indian Run to the track
  • 15 Merkins
  • 15 Dips
  • 10 Box Jumps

Fin.  No PAX were harmed (or at least mortally wounded) during this production.

The MC was strong.

  • Zima was the first to whine about how long the ab station was.  YHC is pretty sure he was just being modest to make YHC feel better. He then insulted YHC at the Cindy (mini Murph station) by saying the only reason YHC can do pullups is because YHC weighs less than Zima.
  • Sleeper said that YHC caused him “to sin a few times” on Education Hill
  • Van Gough had some impressive leaps on the stairs at Wiley.  VG applauded the workout theme.  # YHC has arrived
  • Stardust said something about chest pains…
  • Roosevelt was mightily fierce out there – pretty sure his favorite exercise was the 50 Side Straddle Hops after leap frogging up Brookstown
  • Roadapple was disappointed that the workout only had 2 miles of running – so he drug VG and YHC on an 8 mile run afterwards
  • Cheesesteak:  Cheesesteak was a real team player.  He was always helping out and encouraging the PAX.  He needs to go to more Cherry Pie workouts to help keep motivation up!
  • Sourmash greeted all the PAX at the parking lot after working out at DawgPound.

  • Food Pantry Support:  Sourmash is leading an awesome effort to help with a local food pantry.  Please consider donating.  Message him if interested!

Prayer Requests:

  • Van Gough:  pretty much his whole family is battling the flu.  His uncle was in a car wreck and broke his elbow.
  • Hardin:  he has some sick family members as well

YHC took the PAX out in prayer.

As always, it is a blessing to serve and to be part of this group.  Thanks for the challenge and the friendship!
