Brokedown Murphtown

QIC: Adobe

Date: 7-21-25

PAX: Green Acres, Palin, Tammy, Adobe

Well, as I told the PAX who showed up this morning and as I’ve said many times in the past…I am truly thankful for full Backblasts. Case in point, I read Tonka’s Backblast from his Saturday beatdown at Alcatraz ( by the way….very OUCH. Tough beatdown. ) And at the end of the backblast he mentioned in the mumble chatter \ NMM portion that:

“Adobe has the Q at TIT on Monday.”

I literally had NO idea if this was true. I had to go check the calendar. And, yep, sure enough…Adobe had the Q for Tha Throne. Had I not read the backblast, the workout this morning would have been Q-less. Sooo, that’s a good thing.

Let’s begin.

Warm-O-Rama:

As stated previously, I literally read about my Q-duties just the day before. What was I going to do? Oh, I know, let’s go play golf after church with my oldest 2.0 on one of the hottest days of the week! Ya know, instead of planning a beatdown. Sounds like a good idea.

Anyway, I did finally come up with something later that night. I had a Jack Johnson song in my head, and then a Tom Petty song popped in there as well…..   Breakdown. Let’s see what we can do with that.

5:30…. Intros, Mission Statement, 5CP’s. Check.

  • SSH, Abe V, Whirlies, Arm Swirlies F&B, Moroccan Night Club.

The THANG:

There were a couple of petitions from Palin… “Ya know, we could just stay in this nice – dry parking lot. “ Nah.. let’s make our way over to the soaked – muddy – poorly lit track. And off we went.

The PAX were given The Gameplan. “ How many of you guys have done a Murph before? “ 3 out of 4 hands slowly raised up. I quickly explained what a Murph was.

  • Run 1 Mile
  • 100 Pull-Ups
  • 200 Merkins
  • 300 Squats
  • Run 1 Mile

This was going to be a slightly modified version. A Brokedown Murphtown if you will.

Partner up. ( Yup…a Partner Murph )

Pull-Up Section:

Partner 1 Runs a lap. Partner 2 begins doing Pull-ups. When Partner 1 makes it back, switch up. The goal for this first part was to get to 100 Pull-ups as a team.

Merkin Section:

Partner 1 runs on the track in one direction, Partner 2 runs in the opposite direction. Once you meet up on the other end of the track, that’s when you both start doing the Merkins. Goal was to get to 200 Merkins ( each ). This took a little bit of time. I told the PAX that they could break these up anyway they wanted. Want to do 20, cool. Want to do 50, even better…less running. Once you get to that number, start running again.

Squat Section:

This time…Both Partners run in the same direction ( 1 team goes one way, 2nd team goes the other way. ) Once both teams meet up on the other end of the track, everyone starts doing the 300 Squats. Again, do as few or as many as you want. Once you get to that number, start running again. And remember, 300 Squats each.

All in all, we ended up completing the Brokedown Murph and got in just over 2 miles, so it was a win!

MARY:

Noticing we only had about 4 minutes left, we started moseying back to the main parking lot. Made it back and it was 6:15.

TIME.

COT:

Announcements:

Lots of VQ’s coming up this month.

YHC took us out.

NMM:

It was great being out there with you gentlemen this morning. Thank you for posting. As I’ve said before… Mondays. Tough for YHC.

It was great to see Tammy. It had been a while. He said he had been playing a little more basketball this summer. I reminded him that he needed to be encouraging PAX to practice their free throws for his next basketball themed workout, because the last one was a bad showing of “hoops” skills. 5:30 in the morning on an outdoor court with no lighting, not a single PAX made a free throw. #SMH

Green Acres was killing it this morning per the usual. I’m pretty sure he had already done 100 pull-ups before the workout. It didn’t stop him from cranking out 50 more. #Beast

It was great to see Palin this morning. Many topics of discuss kept the PAX engaged and not focusing on the terrible idea by the Q to do this kind of crap on a Monday morning. Also, just let me know how much to Venmo you for the shoe dry cleaning. Could be a thing?

Until next time men. Stay strong…keep leading.

Definitely copying this format in the future. Strong work, Adobe!

I must say I was expecting a Jack Johnson themed beatdown… what song was it? Don’t think his vibe matches this epic BD

Glad to be of service and help make this BRUTAL beatdown a possibility. Will be copying as well once I get to that full recovery you were praying for.
