Adobe and YHC have been scheming this top secret Q for a few weeks now. The stratagem was lay waste to the PAX with a terrible awful no-good beatdown, then spring the news, “tada here’s your new siteQ!” Half of the plan seemed to work. Most folks were surprised, but as always, the well seasoned PAX of Parliament brought the heat and cruised through the beatdown without a flinch. As demoralizing as that was to YHC’s pride, these men are an inspiration to me each week and I enjoyed every minute.

Here is how it went.

YHC pit stopped at Starbucks this am (opens at 0430!!!) for coffeeteria supplies. Regardless of your opinions on this particular coffee joint’s prices, politics, and/or purveying leanings (or more p words of your choosing), you must admit their cafe is quite cozy. ESPECIALLY when it’s 27deg with Bearmuda Triangle strength winds outside. YHC had a nice leisurely sit on their leather couch in the warm climate controlled window seat with smells of coffee and spice in the air and the subtle clinks and clanks of the machinery in the ambiance. I couldn’t help but ponder the uncanny similarities of that environment to the pleasantries of the warm, cozy gym that we all forego each morning. “Your order’s ready.” Snap, back to reality…and the cold. But the PAX awaiting YHC at Parliament are far superior to the artificial climate of the indoors.

YHC pulls in to a circle of PAX clustered for warmth in a tight circle. Pop the trunk. PAX file in to freight the gas mileage killers boulders to the pain station. We’ll call that an EC.

Everybody grab a block!

Narrator: This is the point of the beatdown where the Q, attempting to compensate for the fact he had no weinke prepared, shouted out instructions to the mob of PAX strolling toward the block pile. The Q deployed the strategy of intimidation and threats if the PAX did not remember the exercises. The deluge of ridicule and otherwise complete disregard for the pipsqueak’s rantings aside – let’s see how it works out for him.

Pick a partner and disperse the group amongst 4 stations.

Format: 1 pace setter exercise superset with one AMRAP exercise. Partner 1 performs exercise 1 for reps, partner 2 AMRAPs exercise 2. Flapjack. Repeato for 3X sets. Proceed to next station.

Amidst the circuit, a single duffle full of 40lb of rock was distributed one PAX at a time with instruction – don’t let it hit the ground or burpees will be paid. Each PAX turn a turn and it never hit the pavement.

YHC caught the end of the mutton crunches, but he’ll need to fill in the rest.

PEACEFUL TRANSITION OF POWER

Adobe has been the fearless and gracious leader of Parliament for 2.5 years!!! What a man. I am personally extremely grateful for his leadership and service, and I know I speak for all of the DashPAX in saying he is truly a High Impact Man who gave it away week in and week out. Parliament is a premier workout and it’s in large part due to his leadership.

YHC is honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the men of Parliament for the next phase. I think Parliament is an especially unique workout in F3 Winston Salem. One could run into any PAX from the Dash here. Ages range from 10-80. There’s mentorship and comradery. There’s creative beatdowns and brutal snot wogglers. I sum up Parliament like this:

Welcome anyone and challenge everyone to make strong, resilient, dependable men.

That’s more than just a rewording of the Credo. It’s the credo lived out in technicolor. It’s what I’ve witnessed and been shaped by as a PAX at Parliament and it’s the effort I want to further as the siteQ. I am humbled to be trusted with the responsibility.

@Rubber Ducky brought the big duck energy as he is apt to do. Reliable and encouraging even while he continues to fight through pain in that toe. Can’t keep a good man down! Also, he sent out the hurricane season at Alcatraz this past weekend, which is allegedly to blame for the cold front we now find ourselves in. Impressive, but also could we walk that one back?

In the wise words of @Boomerang, “Cardboard is your friend”. That’s all that really should be said about the narrator’s aside listed above. Effectiveness of Qstruction was questionable. He, being one of the many siteQ sages present, will get me straightened out.

@Ziggy Stardust operating within his emeritus privilege, presided over the peaceful transition of power, tallied the voice vote, disciplined unruly commoners, and pronounced the rulings. His capture of the moment is shared below for commemoration of the enactment of the bill.

@Adobe the man of the hour was as gracious a host as could have been. Crushed the beatdown. Passed the flag. Was the first one there and last to leave. His leadership shoes will be tough to fill.

@D-Day got crafty with a new level of moving the goal posts. The Q indicated the burden carry turn around point is “at the tesla at the end of the lot”. D-day then proceeded to call his self driving car to move ~20FT closer. Hard to even be mad at that. Also, the man is always at the ready with his avocado onesie.

@Subfloor requested the bag carry continue through to Alcatraz. This man was an enemy of the blue pill today and wanted more and more push. He launched an investigation citing the PAX were not fulfilling all the reps at the other stations. The fact the three other groups had mysteriously morphed to one mumblechatter ameba by the end of the second round did not help the defense’s case.

@Wahoo was the first to greet the Q upon his arrival with a cordial, “hurry up and do something to get us warm!” I can see the complaint box is already filling up first day on the job.

@Frostbite our esteemed nantan and YHC discussed the “joys” of working out in the cold, foot/ankle injuries, and running pains among other delightful topics during coffeeteria. You wouldn’t expect the two WBs to be such Eeyores. We’re not spring chickens anymore (That’s what people say right?).

@Starfish joined the assembly removing the boulders from the trunk of YHC’s car, but was notably the only PAX who made no complaints about the extreme boulderness of the coupons and excessive weight. Mucho Respecto, sir. I expect nothing less from the DashPAX vet. Nothing scares him anymore.

@Superfly is a faithful Parliamentarian who kept any grievances about the change of command to himself. This kind of diplomacy puts him in the running for Lord Speaker of the House of Lords. He’s always where his feet are connecting with the PAX right next to him. #Leadbyexample

@Blind Date was the first to step up and carry the burden bag. This is HIM behavior at its finest. YHC knows he can lean on this PAX when life’s in the flux.

@Slowpitch donned his FSU gear for the occasion. Ever the contrarian, he refused to back the Miami hurricanes like his brother and went with the Seminoles because he couldn’t stomach being a Gator. The Florida man problems of choosing which national title contender to bestow your allegiance #can’trelate. Speaking of contender, slowpitch is still a beast for those keeping tabs.

I realized during coffeeteria the wealth of knowledge present in the circle. I count roughly 15 years of siteQ experience amongst the distinguished PAX in attendance. The sense of servanthood and a desire to give it away to the next guy up was deeply felt and appreciated. Thank you men for showing and sharpening YHC each day.  I am humbled and grateful. Thanks for letting me lead!

Adobe, I suppose I keep the keys? You’ll need to explain this part to me later.
