The Hardest Part of the Day
QIC: Burns
Date: 7.31.25
PAX: Blind Date, Adobe, Nelly, Cruiser, Van Gogh, Wahoo, Burns
Have you ever planned a workout that ratchets up the 1st F a little more than normal, and as you’re driving to the AO you just start secretly hoping the parking lot is empty so that you can go home instead of putting yourself and your friends through the pain? Maybe you’ve thought, “Hey, this isn’t that great of an idea!” and maybe you’ve tried to alter the plan in the car on the way. Or, perhaps, you’ve abandoned the plan altogether and just winged it instead of the horror you initially wrote out on the weinke? This was one of those mornings…except I didn’t alter anything and dreaded the ensuing 45 minutes. It wasn’t good.
WoR: Standard fare, all x12 IC.
The Thang: Mosey to the basketball goal and grab a block and a partner along the way. In the style of a BnW beatdown, one partner would be doing AMRAP exercises with the block while the other partner ran the length of the parking lot and back, flapjack, and make your way down the weinke. BUT there was a twist – a big ol water jug was placed halfway down the parking lot. Each round pax would stop at the jug and perform that round’s number of burpees at the jug (out AND back!). Pax were encouraged to push themselves on the run/burpees since their partners were waiting on them to get back. It got old quick.
- Goblet Squats
- Skull Crushers
- Block Swings
- Side-to-side Merkins
- Lunges
- OH Press
- Dead Lift
- Plank
- Curls
- Low Flutter
Ultimately 110 burpees and a whole lotta other stuff too.
NMM: Everyone made it all the way through the weinke #strong with some six-pickin-up done at the end. Mary was OYO while we were waiting for the group to wrap up, and the final guys crossed the finish line right at 0615 so we stacked the blocks back and walked back to the shovel flag for CoT. Some common complaints this morning addressed the increasing number of burpees each round, the lack of a breeze, and the lack of music. Some back to school chatter, some chatter about good form and the upcoming IPC, some chatter about complaining some more. All warranted.
Announcements: GreeNest cancelled for this weekend. Family Fun Day at some park way out in Yadkinville on 8/23. Ardmore RAH on 10/18.
CoT: Prayers for VG’s 2.0 transitioning into high school and onto a new club volleyball team. YHC took us out thankful for our sweat equity this morning, asking that this be the hardest thing we do today!
Blind Date, thanks for the keys! Next time get that fan turned on a little earlier.
