We had lots of things to celebrate this morning at Parliament. It’s this AO’s 11th anniversary (congrats and #Tclaps, @DramaQueen). It’s Wake Forest Baseball’s Home Opening Day. And it’s also Fat Tuesday aka Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras was the easiest milestone to build a playlist around and since it’s all about the tunes, that is what YHC decided to do. YHC also issued super special personal individual invitations to @Goofy, @ThePonyExpress and @SgtSchultz and was pleased that he was able to go 3 for 3 in @EHs as all three fine gentlemen showed up. Ten others posted as well, giving us a very solid pax of 14 for the festivities.

As @Subfloor pointed out, YHC missed an opportunity to fully realize today’s theme by calling Mountain Climbers as the third cardio exercise. Had YHC called something like Nolan Ryans, we could have been spelling “SIN” with the cardio portion of the workout to go along with “MARDIGRAS” for the strength portion.
There were several accepters of the weight vest/ruck challenge this morning. (@BlindDate, @Tonka, YHC, @Adobe, others?). @Tonka refused to take the vest off even though he had to remove his jacket (which was under the weight vest). Somehow he removed the jacket without removing the weight vest. Similar to when a woman is able to remove her bra without removing her blouse…
@DramaQueen let YHC know last night that we were likely the Tuesday closest to the #Parliament anniversary date. Upon arrival, the #WarDaddy ran over to the shovel flag and confirmed that it was actually exactly 11 years ago today that #Parliament was launched (2/17/15).
@SgtShultz, who is very hard to please, was not a fan of the playlist. So much so that by about Track 5, he was begging to hear some Rush. Might be a side effect of the stroke, but Sarge now admits to being a big fan of Geddy, Neil, and Alex. When soft committing last night, @SgtShultz even quoted the band, saying “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” YHC and all of the pax were glad that he did not choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill, and exercised his #FreeWill to rejoin us this morning. #Kotters. #ParliamentKotters also to @Goofy who hasn’t been out on a Tuesday in quite some time.
YHC was too busy huffing and puffing and messing with the logistics this morning to pick up on any other notable events or happenings, so sound off in comments with any observations.
Here’s the playlist:
- WE ARE (Jon Batiste)
- FREEDOM (Jon Batiste)
- I NEED YOU (Jon Batiste)
- BIG MONEY (Jon Batiste)
- Feel Like Funkin’ It Up (Rebirth Brass Band)
- Do Whatcha Wanna (Rebirth Brass Band)
- Hurricane Season (Trombone Shorty)
- Hold Up Wait A Minute (Trombone Shorty, ZHU, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony)
- My Feet Can’t Fail Me Now (The Dirty Dozen Brass Band)
- It’s All Over Now (The Dirty Dozen Brass Band)
- Right Place Wrong Time (Dr. John)
- Iko Iko (Dr. John)
- That’s It! (Preservation Hall Jazz Band)
Thanks for the honor and privilege of leading this morning.
Your friend,
Starfish
