Flirting with Tough and Crazy

Have you ever planned a beatdown in that moment of euphoria after that first cup of coffee hits in the morning and you forget all about mortality and human limitation? Man of Steel Tonka penned a check that Clark Kent Tonka would be cashing…and the fateful PAX that endured with him. #Cobains to the fearless men who joined YHC this am. Here’s what happened.

Preblast to the Dash PAX brought to mind the famous Coach Yoast quote, “There’s a fine line between tough and crazy, and you’re flirting with it.” This was a warning shot. A cautionary tale. A word to the wise. It would certainly be best to stay home. Eight of the more courageous among us would not be deterred, took their #DRP, donned their gear and met YHC at launch. F3 is awesome.

YHC had a little prep before the beatdown. The warden, @Subfloor obliged to leave the comfort of his cozy Ford Maverick cab to assist with transporting a trunk load of coupons from the back storage to launch. #STUD. YHC’s FULL intention was merely to be a good and gracious Q and save the PAX the trip. There was no consideration to save a time waster mosey to the back and maximize the immediate pain of the farmer carry mile. Next, a quick lap around the lot dropping weinkes at the pain stations and back to launch where a circle of studly men was assembling.

@Ziggy Stardust was crushing the Purpups and the PAX were commenting on the impressiveness. This, AFTER the EC run. Nice work to the War Daddy getting after it and leading by example. Also, a mainstay at Coffeeteria bringing rich wisdom to the likes of Seaman and YHC. T-claps. We are lucky to have you in our midst.

@Drip, ever the encourager, was Johnny on the spot with “great job” to all the PAX in his vicinity. The juxtaposition of his cheery nature and the soul crushing environment of the beatdown was jarring, but made it much more enjoyable to say the least. Drip was also famous today for a reportedly horrible EMOM burpee workout at Distillery. The lingering effects of which made the Purpups that much more enjoyable for the PAX. Nice 1-2 combo we had going there.

@Adobe was singing songs of lament during the purpup/block pump 11s that went something like “OMAHA is what we want. OMAHA is what we need. OMAHA on the plains. OMAHA end the pain.” I comforted him with a heartfelt, “The next thing is probably going to be worse than this, so be careful what you wish for.” He never stopped all morning and raced to the finish on the Serpentine. #Animal

@Sea-Man crushed the farmer carry course and could have lapped us. He was untouchable. Of course he was a gracious winner and not only picked up the 6, but finished out the burpees with the crew after his monkey humpers. What a guy.

@Rubber Ducky reported a cramp in his forearm pumping gas after the beatdown from the farmer carries. #Musictomyears. RD always brings the heat and the fun in good measure.

@Crash is in the right industry. As soon as YHC pulled up with way too many cinder blocks in the trunk – he quickly analyzed the situation, identified the problem, ran some calculations noting the diameter of the tire bulge & stiffness coefficient of my rear axle suspension, considered safety factors and assumptions, determined the risk and gently counseled YHC that it may not be wise to drive the vehicle any further in that state. Always listen to the experts.

@Subfloor consistently raises the ante when YHC Qs. The man is in a cinder block frenzy after helping load up the blocks as an EC and all the block work – He still challenged Crash to double, nay triple the amount of blocks for next week. The warden is crazy.

This was a doozie. YHC was gassed and feeling better for it. In the words of @Sea-Man, “this was one of those Saturday beatdowns where you’re useless the rest of the day”. Amen to that.

This one was fun. Thank you guys for the push and letting me lead.
