20x25v11 aka YHCs 19th Anniversary

QIC: Van Gogh

Date: 11/25/2025

PAX: @Rollback, @Crash, @Batman (DR), @lambchop (WB), @dr. toot (WD), @van.gogh (QIC)

Today is YHC’s 19th wedding anniversary. So the beatdown was designed to emulate how hard and rewarding 19 years of marriage (with the right person) can be. There are good and bad seasons, unexpected hardship, LOTS of repetition, and at times you might not think you can go on… but enduring it all will only make you better; and upon reflection, you gain appreciation for the hardship you’ve endured together.

And for those who don’t know, the challenge from YHC this year has been dubbed  “20×25”, with 20 sets of 25 reps. There will be a cool prize for those who attend 3 or more this year. This was the 11th and final iteration.

NMM:

  • YHC was riding high on the metaphor train this morning. Running up the parking deck represented bad seasons, running down represented good seasons. The parking deck was described as a boring location, but marriage can be perceived as boring by some! Some PAX weren’t sure if they had any more reps in them, but YHC said you can’t quit when things get hard – just take it one step at a time. The bear crawl at the end was an unexpected hardship, which you have to be strong to endure together. And in the end, when you overcome it, you can look back and appreciate the beauty of surviving it all together (but the sun was lower than YHC thought it would be so that view wasn’t as pretty as it should have been).
  • YHC has been doing F3 for more than half of my marriage now, and I credit F3 a lot for not only making me a better man, but helping me get my marriage on the right track. YHC feels it’s vital for men to workout with other men. It helps us vent, it helps us feel supported, and it strengthens our faith in humanity and God. Over the years, I’ve learned it’s equally vital to workout and/or be active with your spouse as well. The bonds we create at F3, can be similarly made with your M, and it only helps you both grow together.
  • Equally vital has been the fact that my M and I are not alone in our marriage. In my faith, I believe that marriage is intended to be a relationship between you, your spouse, and Jesus. When one of you falters, you can count on Him to support your relationship until you’ve found your footing. Similarly, you need a strong support group of men that you can lean on as well. You can’t put all of your troubles and burdens on your M; Lord knows they endure enough from our kids, their jobs, and supporting us men (I know I’m needy).
  • Overall, we did just over a mile, and completed 116 Merkins, 116 Cobra Humpers, 116 Squat Jumps, 116 Pull-ups, and 24 Burp-ups (plus 20 SSHs and AMRAP American Hammers). It was not easy.
  • Rollback picked a heck of a day to wear his weight vest! #BEAST  He did the entire thing with it on, and never really complained… He just pushed through, and even beat YHC on a few sets?!
  • Lambchop tried to tempt YHC to alter the plan, but there was no deviating! I was also glad to hear that his son is doing well, and could relate to some of his stories about handling a sleeping baby. #BeenThere
  • Pigskin fit right in with us. I’m sorry he had to endure hearing Lambchop boast about last years rep challenge and how many categories he won…
  • Pigskin gave YHC a run for his money on that last Bear Crawl, and nearly beat me too! It was only toward the end did I catch up.
  • Dr. Toot chimed in at the top of the parking deck with some wisdom on marriage, and Rollback started humming some Gospel music to create the atmosphere. It was pure War Daddy magic, and I think we all felt closer to our M’s in that moment even though they weren’t there.
  • Crash put in solid work all morning, and didn’t even complain about the Nut Punch. He knows YHC’s M pretty well through work at Elemance. His M also works with mine. I’m very grateful to them both for their support of my M over the past few months especially; also for being a great role model couple for us and giving us a preview a few years into the future of where my M and I will be before we know it.

Thanks for coming out this morning, men… a lot of what was said this morning was heartfelt, and I appreciate you all being kind enough to listen, while doing a hard workout such as this!
