The Pendulum (2025 Edition)

Date: 10.23.25

PAX: Rollback, Zephyr, Tax Break, Zima, Chomper, Greenspan

Warmarama (just to spite Zima):

  • Abe Vigodas, Whirlies, Up/Down Dawgs, Cherry Pies

The Thang:

Three Stations:

  • Food Lion
    • Every time pax enter the FL parking lot, perform burpees x 5, boot-slap jump squats x 10, and SSHs x 15.   No ladder up and down.  Everytime, the same thing.
  • Ardmore Christian Church (western hill)
    • Exercises were dive bombers, side lunges (DC), and Heels to Heaven.
      • Start with 5 reps and increase by 5 each round until completing round of 15 reps. Then descend back down to 10 and 5.    Duh.
  • Stella Brew (eastern hill)
    • Exercises were RDLs (DC), Mike Tysons, Donkey Kicks
      • Same as other hill. 5, 10, 15 reps ladder based on the round.  Then back down to 10 and 5.  Not difficult to understand, right?

Continue until time.

Announcements:

  • See Slack for Burlington 10-year anniversary.
  • Fire pit at Zima’s Speakeasy on Friday. Come until Zima’s kids scare you off.
  • Backyard Ultra at the Speakeasy will be November 23rd! Come run 1 lap, 5 laps, 0 laps.  Great way to pre-burn your Thanksgiving calories.
  • MayHim is next Wednesday at Mayhem. Thirty minute IPC-style workout, thirty minute coffeeteria.

Prayer Requests:

  • Chomper’s friend is a missionary who was kidnapped in Niger. The family has several connections to Winston-Salem.
  • Praise for Tax Break’s completion of the Chicago Marathon.

NMM:

  • YHC loves the Pendulum and believes it to be one of his only “good” 1st F contributions to the DashPax. We got in ~2.3 miles and 240 feet of elevation gain.  Everyone finished the full up and down of the ladder just as time expired.
  • We stayed together for the first lap, which required five reps of each exercise on the two hills. After clearly stating at Ardmore Christian Church that the workout would ladder up from 5 to 10 to 15 for each exercise and then informing the pax at Stella Brew that we would be doing the same 5, 10, 15 logic, Rollback is seen doing way more than 5 required Mike Tysons.  “Dude, how many are you doing?”  Rollback:  “Fifteen.  You said do 5, 10, 15.”  Chomper:  “I understood it the same way!”
  • Rollback also lectured YHC that it was not the trails that caused YHC’s IT-band trauma, but only running trails that caused it. He then invited YHC to join him for a trail run on Friday.  Hard pass.  Still not ready.
  • Zima may be the most hyperbolic pax in the Dash. He also may be the most self-deprecating pax.  The two are connected.  He, like YHC, loves the Pendulum.
  • Tax Break arrived and said, “This is my first bootcamp.” Ever?  “Since the Chicago Marathon.”  TB then went on to pace Rollback at the head of the pack for the entire workout.
    • He also noted that the Nantan’s vehicle was parked firmly on Maplewood, nary 250 yards from the workout.
  • Zephyr continues to accelerate his and others’ game. Whereas YHC needs a towel even in the low-40s, Zephyr barely broke a sweat.  He also had no problems with the instructions this morning.
  • It was surprise (of the good variety) to see Chomper at a quasi-bootcamp.  He noted that he had tried to convince himself not to come, but the proximity and guarantee of a fun time were too irresistible.
  • Snooki, who gave an HC via text on Wednesday, texted a rescission late Thursday night due to plans with the M.  Smart guy.
  • Thanks, guys, for coming. Hope to see you back at the next installment of the Pendulum.

Thanks for the keys, Root Canal.  I doubt your Q was as fun as this one, but you were missed nonetheless.
