Flatline 10.14
QIC: Burns
Date: 10.14.2025
PAX: Root Canal, Drip, Bevo, Rollback, Van Gogh, Spicoli, El Chapo (DR Raleigh), Burns
When Turnover put out the bat signal for a substi-Q sometime last week I was in a good mood and wasn’t looking at my calendar, so I happily helped out my good friend who has been generous to me in a pinch before. I should have inherently known the Falcons were playing on MNF the night before and avoided accepting the call, but the small yet significant euphoria of eating a chicken salad sandwich at 1:48PM on Monday, October 6 prevented my brain from thinking that far ahead…I’ll do it. And the Falcons won. (Can I Get A Hell Yeah) (Them Birds Is Dirty)
YHC arrived to the parking lot this morning to see Rollback finishing up his EC Burpees while Van Gogh and El Chapo cheered him on/chatted and ignored him. 3 others joined us before WoR and we gathered and began promptly at 0530…no mission statement, core principles, or disclaimer were given #cobains
WoR – fast paced mosey to the top of the lot. 15 SSH IC. Fast paced mosey to the bottom of the lot. 15 Imperial things IC. Fast paced mosey back to the top of the lot. 15 Copperhead squats IC. Mosey to the Amphitheater
The Thang, pt 1: Box Jump Bonanza. Starting at the bottom of the amphitheater, do the called exercise and then box jump up a level and repeato all the way to the top, circling down and doing dips for the six
- Round 1 – 5 split squats each leg
- Round 2 – 4 step ups each leg
- Round 3 – 3 squatty potties
- Round 4 – 2 calf raises*
- Round 5 – 1 jump squat
Spicoli found us as we were finishing up and we moseyed to the bottom of 2nd St to the little park across from Shady Blvd between Poplar & Spring St
The Thang, pt 2: Partner Hills.
- Partner 1 – Run the loop around the park and while running stop at one of the benches and do 20 dips.
- Partner 2 – Hill sprint up to Broad St and back
- Whoever gets back to the start first (usually partner 1) do Electric Chairs while waiting for the other
- Flapjack
- Repeato for 5 rounds
Mosey back to launch for Mary, Flatline style. Line up about halfway through the lot and take turns calling an exercise. Whoever calls the exercise runs to the wall at the bottom of the lot and back while everyone else does the work. Can’t remember all the exercises, sorry.
Fin.
* I meant to call S2S lunges but blanked. The mental weinke went dark for a minute.
NMM
Spicoli is now scheduling texts the night before to go to the Q at 0510-0515ish asking where to meet up if he’s late #IYamWhoIYam
El Chapo is a monster…he was routinely first up the hill on the sprints and even did his last one backwards. He also got tired of dips and switched to derkins
Van Gogh is a steady Site Q, and was appreciative of the mileage this AM (between 2.7-3!)
Bevo says this was a top 10 Burns Q. Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing
Drip says he’s 57 in CoT but moves like he’s 37.
Rollback called burpees during Mary but made Drip run for him so he could do more burpees
Root Canal was battling through a little calf pain and still made the hills look easy
YHC was reading someone (Zima) post in Slack that we need more workouts that leave us gasping for air at the end, and took that to heart. Thankfully I didn’t hear too many complaints…this was a strong group today!
Announcements
RAH! This weekend. Getcha some.
CoT
El Chapo shared the freedom of unburdening himself with his personal troubles during CoT in Raleigh…it’s often scary and intimidating to open up about what’s going on in our lives, but there’s no better place than in our BoM after you’ve already seen the power of accountability in our workouts. Sharing your burdens with others takes a weight off your back, reduces the power of shame and fear, and keeps the Jester away. Powerful words.
YHC took us out, thankful that the SkyQ has a easy burden for us when we cast our troubles on Him.
