Deck This S#@! Out

QIC: Wobegon

Date: 8-1-2025

PAX: Zesty, Dr. Toot, Whac-A-Mole, Spicoli, Bootsie, Lambchop, Wobegon

The site Q put out the call, and YHC answered, mostly because I wanted to make sure I got myself out the door Friday. Glad I did. It went like this:

Warm-O-Rama:
We got things started with a classic warm-up—all the favorites

The Thang: Deck This S#@! Out

Mosey’d up the parking deck ramp, stopping at each turn for the following:

  • 20 Squats
  • 20 Carolina Dry Docks
  • 20 Walking Lunges (10 each leg)
  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 Dying Cockroaches

We repeated that sequence at every level until we reached the top. The Q did not count the levels. 5 sounds right? There, we paused to admire the rising sun painting the skyline. Lovely.

Then the nutpuch: 100 Low Flutter kicks (OYO) to seal the view into our cores.

Back down the ramps and return to the starting point.

Mary (by Committee):
Everyone got a chance. Spicoli made some weird stuff up. Might have been the first time Mole called one (look out for his VQ, that’s coming soon). Everyone else kept it classic.

COT: prayers for Lambchop’s coworker with an unexpected and difficult pregnancy. Payrers for those with heavy hearts and lossss.

YHC took us out reflecting on our ability, and call, to show up as ourselves and use the gifts we have been given. Listen to the most recnet F3 podcast.  It and this portion from The Daily Buddhist devotional book provided the inspo for the words:

What Should I Do with All This Power?

Each of us perceives and interacts with the outside world through what’s called the three gates: actions, words, and thoughts. The things we do, say, and think determine the quality of our lives and influence everyone we come into contact with. These three gates also happen to be the only three things in life that we have full power over. So what should we do with all this power?

To figure that out, let’s take a quick inventory of the actions, words, and thoughts that benefit both yourself and others. Ask yourself these questions right now:

  • Which of my day-to-day actions positively affect both me and others in my life?
  • What words and conversations serve both me and the people
    around me?
  • What thoughts generate compassion for myself and others?

By understanding which of your actions, words, and thoughts are beneficial to all, you have the perfect road map for how to conduct yourself in the world. The final step is performing the acts themselves.

Yes, you have a lot of power. The question is: What will you do with it?

Naked-Man Moleskine:
There’s something about sunrise over the city that makes the day feel a little more earned. The PAX kept the chatter going and the form honest.

  • Zesty gave an HC and joined us mid-warm-rama. Was th Q worried? Nah, brah.
  • Dr. Toot is Dr. Toot. His navigational skills helped us up the deck and his commitment to this thing is iron.
  • If you have not worked out with Whac-A-Mole yet, I recommend it. 10/10. Newer Pax who hangs with old timers with no issue
  • Spicoli was barely on Spicoli time, shook out the dust, and killed the workout. His good nature is always appreciated.
  • Bootsie, another relatively new pax, feels like he’s been here forever—great conversation and effort. What more cna you ask for?
  • Lambchop is Lambchop and he is planning a big weekend, but started it by making us all better, as he does.

Spicoli, dang it, I left the keys on the top of the parking deck. Next week’s Q can find them for you. I’ll be there to help look.
