Prebirthday Murphday-ish
QIC: Van Gogh
Date: 5/20/2025
PAX: 2% (F3 Arlington), @Zima, @Lamb Chop, @Crash (WD), @Bagpipe (WB), @van.gogh (QIC)
YHC checked in with Bam to see if he was able to Q, and it’s a good thing I did because not only does his work now start at 7AM, but this was possibly the busiest week of the year for him and he definitely couldn’t Q. But this somewhat turned into Providence for YHC and allowed us to keep an annual tradition going (at F3 for 9 years, for YHC 12 years?) with a Murph the day before my birthday (or Prebirthday Murphday)! This was at least Murphish with the format presented… and it went a little something like this:
Warm-o-rama
- Mission Statement / Core Principles!
- Run to the
parking deckrail road tracks by Bailey Park!
The Thang
- Reps:
- 50 pull-ups, 100-merkins, 150 bootstrap squats
- “Active Recovery”:
- Mosey down to Coal Pit, bear crawl from one end down to the other and back
- More Reps:
- 50 Pull-ups, 100 Merkins
- “Active Recovery”:
- Most to the top of the parking deck
- 150 squats
- Mosey back to start
Mary:
- American Hammers til 6 is up
- American Hammers x 25 IC
CoT
- Update on YHC’s wife, prayers for Lambchop’s SIL
- Prayers for all the graduates!
- YHC took us out!
MCC
- Lambchop, being the runner that he is, complained about the planned run into the parking deck, and inspired YHC to have us run all the way down to the Urban Assault AO for fun!
- This allowed our downrange PAX, 2%, to get a proper tour of downtown Winston-Salem. He would later reveal he’d already been to Bailey Power Plant and Incindiary… dangit!
- Zima has joined YHC for the Prebirthday Murphday for several years now, this one slightly different than the rest, but we still ended up getting in all of our reps and a little extra mileage with a parking deck climb and bear crawl!
- 2% was in town visiting for his niece’s graduation at Wake, and was heading out later that day. He put in some great work, and said he always strives to work in pull-ups, giving thanks. YHC immediately had a new BFF upon hearing that.
- 2% and Bagpipe hit it off talking about banking stuff about banks and bank insurance related things.
- Crash and YHC enjoyed the view from atop the parking deck and discussed some BioTechPlace related things.
- The squats on top of the deck were quite serine, giving PAX view of a beautiful sunrise.
- Lambchop was a good sport about the whole running thing, and really can take credit for the change of location. He put in solid work and should definitely consider Murphing every Saturday at Supermax.
- The most fun of the morning revolved around 2% needing to come up with a handmotion for his name, the initial suggestion of which was a dual hand motion milking a cow, which definitely seemed more like milking 2 bulls when suggested by one or more PAX. 2% got a kick out of it. Maybe he’ll take it back to Arlington?
Overall, this was a great crew and a great time. A great final beatdown being 40 years old for YHC!
