There is only UNO way to TRQ

QIC: Burlap

Date: 22 May 2025

PAX: Giles, Tammi (WB), Mutton, Green Acres (WD), Boomerang, D-Day, Ziggy Stardust, Argyle, Superfly, Tarzan, Root Canal, Pony Express, Round-Up, and Burlap (QIC).

It was a beautiful, late May morning when 14 Pax arrived at Speas Elementary: 12 by car and two by foot.  None were in wheelchairs, although that mode of transportation is just around the corner for some of us, chronologically speaking.

And speaking of modes, there were multiple modes of age, based on my memory with two at 63, two at 62, and two at 61.  In fact, 61 was the median age with Round-Up and me having six older gentlemen and six younger ones along side us.

But onto the workout itself, in which future historians who read this will be keenly interested.

COT

  • Superfly has the Q at Purgatory on Saturday
  • Give blood; you’re not using all of yours!
  • Prayers for aging relatives and friends
  • Prayers for family and friends of a close friend of Mutton’s who died this week
  • Prayers for those searching for new jobs
  • Prayers for Zima who is putting down pet dog today
  • YHC took us out

NMM

  • In addition to an old crowd, the group was pretty large, but we fit onto the LIDO deck.
  • YHC and the Pax stepped over the Yellow Caution tape that sealed off the deck itself, but when we started going in and out, we snapped it.  Giles and Green Acres tied the tape back together after we left the deck, so the public is now safe again.
  • Good to see Giles after a long absence from workouts that I attend — he may have been a regular at TRQ or others, but YHC hadn’t seen him in a while.  Always good to be with Giles.
  • Tammy (should be spelled Tammi) has working hard and fast.  He has embraced his F3 name and uses a gesture during naming at COT.
  • Mutton kindly turned down running through BV to attend TRQ and support the Q.  Appreciated.
  • Green Acres decided he had rather do BTTW than wall sits during the first couple of visits to the Pit of Despair.  This inspired the Q to switch to BTTW later.
  • Boomerang was generally quiet and worked hard; YHC is not sure what is wrong with him.
  • D-Day raised the question at COT of the mode and asked the difference between the median and the mean.  He definitely knows the answer.
  • Ziggy was in attendance and always makes a workout better by his presence, in the opinion of YHC.
  • Argyle arrived on time and worked hard, embracing the challenge and emerging from the of the Pit of Doom
  • Superfly continues to be in good shape and is quietly but effecitvely introducing a lot of new guys to F3.
  • Tarzan arrived by 0525 but hung out in the car a little while, checking his phone.  I think that at age 49, he is not sure about embracing such a crowd of older men, but he is faithful to both TRQ and Purgatory.  May as well enjoy old(er) age, Tarzan; Father Time is undefeated.
  • Root Canal is recovering well and only modified a little.  YHC took all the cadences exercises to 12 or more except for one, to please Dr Toot.
  • Pony Express and YHC keep our car keys on the tree by the corner of the building and near the end of the covered walkway, thanks to nails put in the tree by Pony years ago.  Others are welcome to use that system.
  • Welcome back, Round-Up, to his second workout.  As he was not an FNG, YHC skipped the principles, mission, and disclaimer and went straight to SSHs.  Round-Up appears to be in good shape so we will have to push him at future workouts to get him to strain and sweat.
  • Songs at the LIDO deck and at Mary were courtesy of a Starfish playlist and included a good many late 60s and 1970s songs and even some Joe Jackson “Is She Really Going Out with Him?” which YHC always enjoys.  Started with an advertisement and ended with an ad at 0615.  Worth every penny (free Spotify, that is).
  • YHC almost made a typo two bullet points above, originally typing “principals” but catcthing that during the editing process.  Now, there must be other typos and mistakes in this BB, but I hope I am not violating rules of grammar and spelling that YHC emphasized in a Purgatory workout a couple of years ago.

Honor and Pleasure to lead 13 fine men this morning.

Peace,

Burlap

Nice beatdown! Worked up a sweat on a cool morning. 🥵. Thanks for leading. The UNO cards made it fun. Can’t take credit for tying the tape back. Think it was D-Day and Giles. 👍🏻
