WIB 5.15 – Worth It
QIC: Burns
Date: 5.15.25
PAX: Rollback, Zephyr, Ludacris, Greenspan, Burns
WIB will be at Reynolda Village tomorrow was at Reynolda Village today, May 15th 2025. You should[‘ve] be[en] there. It’s a great place. It used to be an AO. Twice, actually! We called it The Estate, and it ruled. And for some reason WIB is the only thing that keeps it alive as a regularly visited locale for our gloom-based shenanigans.
Another thing that used to happen with regularity is the WIB Q would post a brief description of the workout in what is called a “pre-blast.” This served a couple of purposes: first, it alerted the PAX to post or not to post based on the perceived challenge of the designed workout. **Second, it served as a safety-net for the Q in case life happened or alarms didn’t ring – those who posted wouldn’t be left scrambling to generate a beatdown on the fly. I’m not sure I’m influential enough to return The Estate or The WIB Preblast to their former glories, but I’m sure gonna try. So check out the workout below:
**The Q was going to be on time but was thwarted by some pesky red lights. I got there at 0530:10 and Greenspan was leading the pax in SSH
WoR: OYO, we’ll do something probably but not a whole lot because time’s-a-wastin’ –> SSH, Whirlies, and Michael Phelps.
Start in the upper lot and run clockwise around the big loop.
- Station 1: The Fountain. 15 Shoulder Tap Derkins
- Station 2: The Bookhouse. 15 Jump Squats
- Station 3: The Bridge (ish). 15 Mike Tysons
- Station 4: The Upper Lot. 15 Bonnie Blairs. Loop to the left and down to the lower lot.
- Station 5: The Lower Lot. 15 Burpees. Loop back up the hill and start again!
An image of the route is included below, too!
NMM: This was hard. Definitely knew it was going to be so, but it was harder than anticipated. We all got four rounds in. First time meeting Zephyr – turns out his M & I both change the lives of the youths in the same building. Dude’s a beast. Rollback was polite and hung with the crowd until the last lap when he emptied the tank. Greenspan “checked the box” today, aka made it look easy. Speaking of making it look easy, I’m not sure Ludacris even broke a sweat. Cruised through the beatdown. Some talk of Spartan races, sore shoulders, injured pax, peanut-free doughnut establishments, and humidity aversion.
CoT: Lots of needed prayers – for Van Gogh’s family, for Lamb Chop’s M, for Frosty’s foot, for Schlitz’ friend, for Rollback’s attitude & leadership opportunities, for my SIL, and others. Keep lifting each other up and taking on leadership opportunities head on.
Thanks for the keys, Root Canal!
