Date: 5.26.25

PAX: VI: Palin, Superfly, Spicoli, Subfloor, Uturn (kotters!)

Murph: Madoff, Huckleberry, Workbench, Hansel (kotters!)

Double-down: Sputnik (FNG Mark Stamey, RIRO), Bagpipe, Bootsy (RIRO), Rubber Ducky, Rollback (RIRO), Van Gogh (RIRO), Greenspan (RIRO, QIC)

A wet morning was fitting for 16 pax who jumped in for various challenges on a day set aside to celebrate the best of us.

VI Warmarama:

  • SSHs, Abe Vigodas, Whirlies, Cherry Pies

The Thang:

Mosey to the lower, larger parking lot.  Speaker positioned at the approximate mid-point and F3 card deck pulled out, pax were instructed to draw a card, one at a time, run to the opposite end of the lot and perform exercise on card AMRAP until they hear “Halfway There” (1 minute), then run back to starting point and continue performing same exercise on card AMRAP until the second minute expires.  Repeato until Q calls time.  Pax drew the following cards:

  • Calf raises
  • Merkins
  • Derkins
  • Dive Bombers (wildcard)
  • Bonnie Blairs
  • Calf Raises
  • American Hammers
  • Juanitas
  • SSHs
  • Low Flutters
  • Bulgarian Split Squat
  • Mountain Climber
  • Diamond Merkins
  • Arm Circles (popular…and painful)

Mosey home for 5 minutes of Mary:

  • Heels to Heaven
  • Cobra Crunch
  • Glute Bridges
  • Pickle Pounders
  • SSHs

End of VI.

Thang Part 2:

Head to River Oaks Community Church via legs or wheels.  At River Oaks, complete Murph:

  • 1 mile run
  • 100 pull-ups
  • 200 merkins
  • 300 squats
  • 1 mile run

Thang Part 3 (if applicable):

  • Run back to Clemmons Y.

Finished.

Announcements:

  • Murph to immediately follow VI. See above.

Prayer Requests:

  • Van Gogh’s M’s mother and family.
  • Gratefulness for those who have served to enable and preserve freedom & liberty.

YHC prayed us out.

NMM:

  • Sputnik, FNG Mark Stamey, is a middle school teacher at Redeemer School. He’s had the pleasure of teaching both VG’s and YHC’s daughters over the past couple of years.  His parents were missionaries in Russia for the first 13 years of his life, hence the Russian satellite reference.  He has also spent time in Bolivia as a missionary with his M.  He currently lives in a trailer (camper) in his FiL’s yard as an attempt to regain his FiL’s approval after taking the M to Boliva.  Incredible first posting by Sputnik, doubling-down like he did.
  • Rollback had to roll out early, so, being a HIM, completed the Murph prior to VI at ROCC / Alcatraz. He then ran in, completed the beatdown, and ran with us back to Alcatraz.  He also found time during the workout for a number of burpees due to the rest of us appropriately warming up our arms AND ASTs being one of the first cards drawn from the deck.
  • Knowing that several guys would be doubling-down, YHC intended the VI portion to accommodate pax to push themselves as much/little as they wanted.
  • Bagpipe went to The Iron Throne before showing up at VI. Finding no pax, he hustled to VI, crushed the beatdown, loaned his shovel flag to those running from VI to Alcatraz, and then made the Murph look easy.  It was like he was surfing a wave.
  • Rubber Ducky was excited all morning. Guess why.  He had a water collector (Gatorade bottle) set out in the rain and offered to rehydrate folks as the morning went on.
  • Bootsy looked strong all morning, finishing the RIRO at a faster pace than we started it. Claiming to be more of a runner, he went to Parliament recently where BooBoo encouraged him to come to the Memorial Day festivities.  Think about that.  A guy went to a non-running workout where he was encouraged by the site-Q of one of the four weekly running workouts in the region to attend a Memorial Day convergence and completed a double-down with a RIRO.  HIM!
  • Palin was optimistic that we would utilize the shelters at VI this morning. He fell in love with the wet parking lot and did Palin things like stealing the Ziploc bag YHC had dedicated to the card deck.  Unfortunately, he did not get mission control clearance to double-down with Murph, but it was great to be with him during the time we had.
  • Spicoli arrived to VI on his own time. He was suddenly just there, and we were better for it.
  • Superfly and Subfloor were the silent warriors this morning at VI, just getting the work done.
  • The parking lot at the Y filled up as we worked through the card deck. Van Gogh thought it was a good idea to tell folks in the parking lot that we (F3) had been open for a couple of hours when we returned from Alcatraz.
  • Madoff made it to the Murph after allowing YHC to run with him at Tanglewood on Sunday. He’s ready for summer festivities!
  • We had a couple of kotters today! Uturn was back out at VI.  He’s been rehabbing his hip/legs and looked fresh.  At Alcatraz, Hansel was half-way through the Murph when the vagrants from VI arrived.  It was determined that Hansel at a workout was like the “Special Appearance” title that really famous people would get in the credits of populate TV shows.
  • The double-down at Alcatraz spurred remembrance of the epic Memorial Day Triple Down from 2020 (Estate, Outhouse, Speakeasy Murph) where Zima did at least 3 Murphs. “Good ol’ days.”
  • Workbench and Huckleberry made the Murph look easy. VG complimented Huck on the weight room work he’s been putting in.  High praise.

Thanks, Cruiser, for the keys.  We missed you this morning.

Happy Memorial Day, fellas.  Thank a veteran.
