WIB 4.27.2021

QIC: Burns

PAX: Greenspan, H.O.G., Honey Badger, Drip, Turnover, Root Canal, Burns

Location: Speas Elementary

At 0530 we separated ourselves from the TRQ crowd for a brief WoR – ISTs while the beatdown was explained.

The thang: Jog to the Rock Pile before TRQ gets there & select one (1) medium-large rock OR two (2) medium-small rocks and take your selection(s) to the track.

Station 1: Track curve by the rock pile.  5 squat thrusters, 20 curls, 5 squat thrusters

Station 2: Playground. 5 pullups, 20 dips, 5 pullups

Station 3: Track curve near the shed.  5 burpees, 20 WWIIs, 5 burpees.

Repeato until 0614, return rocks, gather up for CoT.

NMM: All pax completed at least 6 full laps, with H.O.G. and Honey Badger led the way with 7.  YHC had not adequately prepared the mental faculties for the amount of upper body destruction that occurred…these arms are very noodley this afternoon.  I enjoyed the push from Turnover as we tried in vain to keep up with HOG & HB. Drip & Greenspan seemed to be fully recovered from the Turnberry and Root Canal was impressive as always. Greenspan also may have ignored the FAQ section below and taken Green Acres’ rock.

CoT: Shared BoM with the TRQ guys post-beatdowns. Prayers for the McKnight family – Rebecca was the county-level social studies director for WSFCS, and she passed away Tuesday evening. A nice tribute to her life and work in the county was published in today’s paper. Prayers for Starfish & his parents as they are dealing with health issues in Oklahoma.

Announcements: Q School 5/15 at Alcatraz. Blood Drive 7/3, see Splash & D Day. Wobegon has Alcatraz Saturday, Mutton has IS. Choose wisely.

FAQs

Question: This term, WIB, is unfamiliar to me. Can you explain what it means?

Answer: WIB is an acronym for ‘Workout in a Bag.’  While a bag is very rarely included in the actual execution, the idea is that you can take the workout anywhere and complete it at any time.  It is generally characterized by setting up a running loop with some stations with exercises along the way, and the attendees are encouraged to push themselves to finish as many laps as possible.

Question: How many laps is an appropriate goal?

Answer: The track at Speas is about .3 miles long, so you should set a goal for yourself with that distance in mind. WIB workouts usually average between 2-3 miles of running depending on your speed. It should be noted that pax of all paces and fitness levels find success in the WIB format, so don’t let that distance be a deterrent to posting on Thursday morning.

Question: I’m a WIB regular and I sleep in on Saturdays, so I’ve never been to Speas Global Elementary School. Where is it and where should I park?

Answer: Speas is at 2000 Polo Road, you should park in the front parking lot that does not have the traffic islands.

Question: Why have you chosen such an odd format for the exercises? Why not just do 10 of one exercise and 20 of the other?

Answer: Because I’m the Q and I said so.

Question: Will TRQ get mad that we took some of the rocks?

Answer: I hope they don’t. If they do, they better choose their words wisely because we will have rocks.

Question: What if Green Acres gets mad that we took HIS rock?

Answer: God help you if you take Green Acres’ rock.

Green Acres rock is shaped like NC. It’s a lovely rock, didn’t see it this past Saturday for some reason. Hope it’s doing ok.
