Rock Crawls

QIC: Huckleberry

It was early December and the end of 2019 was just around the corner. YHC spent some time reflecting on 2019 and all the blessing that occurred.  F3 being part of these blessings my train of thought went to some of the more “memorable” workouts.  But every time if reflect on previous workouts, there is one that always stands out.  It was over 2 years ago when Van Gogh led a workout at Mayhem that I did not think that I could finish – I was absolutely beat and ready to stop.  But Van Gogh saw me struggling, ran back, and bear crawled with me, pushing me to the end.  Maybe it was the workout, maybe it was the push, maybe it was the comradery and friendship, but that workout always stands out.  WAIT…..I should use that workout as a template!!  It absolutely sucked and pushed me to my limits…….yes……I should use it.  YHC immediately reached out to Turnover as the site Q requesting a date as soon as possible.  His response, “I’m going to regret this but okay”.  Well that day came this week, and here is how it went……..

16 pax with the Q showed up and at 0530, it began….

Warm o rama – SSH x 15 IC, IW x 10 IC, Abe Vig OYO, Michael Phelps x 10 IC

Mosey to Jamison Park and the trail to nowhere. Partner up size does not matter.  One partner pick a medium sized rock.

THE ROCK CRAWL – (bear crawl pushing your rock = shove the rock with one arm, bear crawl to it, shove it with the other arm, bear crawl to it…….)

Partner A – Rock crawl up the trail

Partner B – sprint up the hill to the top of the trail, perform 5 burpees, and sprint back to partner.

Switch. And repeat until one pair gets their rock to the top of the hill.  When the first group reaches the top, everyone stop, and start going back down the trail in the same way.  When you reach the base of the trail, run back to the six and bear crawl in with them.

Return your rocks and mosey back to the start. Start at one end of the parking lot and bear crawl DB drill up the parking lot to the other end.  Half way, switch to crab walk DB drill.

Mary – merkins x 10 IC, LBC, Freddie Merc, low flutter ( too much lactic acid had built up to remember the number of reps).

Finished, done, spent.

Prayer requests – Offsides daughter being evaluated at Duke, Offsides father, HOG job interview

YHC took us out.

MC:

  • Everyone loved the workout!
  • YHC had the pleasure of partnering with HOG…..until he selected a terrible rock
  • FYI…..lots of friction with a rock and asphalt. Its demoralizing to push it as hard as you can and see it slide 12 inches.
  • I informed everyone that this was based off a VG workout. This led to 20 mins of swear words in his direction
  • VG made this look easy
  • AMAZING PUSH BY ALL THE PAX. They got to the top in about half the time I had planned for them. Hence, push it back down the hill – which sounds easy……but it was terrible.
  • The bear crawl DB drills were planned. Zima was saying something about being discriminated against due to being shorter. YHC listened to his concerns and decided to Omaha to the one exercise that Zima hates……crab walks. No more comments were made.
  • I did hear several pax say “I’m done”. Only to see them diving right back in after a 5 second rest. There is no give up in the group.

 

Honestly, there was likely more MC out there but I was again the six and didn’t have enough blood going to my brain to process any of it. Please fill in what I missed out on.

Turnover, thanks for the keys. I already requested another Q date but he informed me that none were available.

    ‪Honored to have made an impact on a #HIM such as yourself, Huck! You took out the 100 HR Merkins, 100 Monkey Humpers, and Lunge Walks, and somehow still made it worse! #TClaps!
