Observations

The first day of fall usually marks cooler temps and lower humidity, so YHC looked forward to putting together the routes for today’s runs. Unfortunately, the 2018 autumnal equinox felt like just about every other morning in July, August, and September – hot, humid, and oppressive. I realized how bad it was when I returned to the lot after my warm up lap and was asked if I had just gotten a shower. No, I was just shvetty.

The routes went according to plan for most, although Poncho said he did a Tractors/OGs mashup of around 5 miles after missing a turn somewhere.

Most pax were introduced to the Northwest Blvd/Hinshaw Ave extension for the first time. Balco and YHC were greeted by one of the presumed residents leading Balco to question my route choices.

During YHC’s warmup lap, I encountered a Winston Salem resident using the sidewalk on Hawthorne as his personal urinal. #highlight

Good to see both Interference and Chomper out this morning. IF reported a pain-free run except for the lack of oxygen running up all the blasted hills. He hopes to do OGs next week.

I didn’t see Palin on the route, but “enjoyed” the fumes from his truck as he was leaving and I was finishing my run.

Yeah, you put some “nice” hills on the first half of that route. The long slow steady uphill on Cloverdale was just wonderful. And 5 points is a big intersection to run through, especially if you’re husky and slow like YHC.
