WESTERN FRONT — INAUGURAL BEATDOWN

Jack Warren Park | 0530 | Friday

The line has been drawn.

At 0455 the early risers launched for various distances of running, rucking, and poor choices. Optional Warm-O-Rama began at 0525, because Western Front may be gritty — but we’re not reckless. (Though some thought the Q couldn’t tell time, they were advised to learn to read, particularly the preblast, that clearly stated an optional warm up at 0455 – Zima). At 0530 sharp, we circled up, called the Mission Statement and Five Core Principles, and promptly rifle-carried our coupons to the field like men who had been waiting 18 months for this moment.

Rubber Ducky — newly minted Site Q and long-time prophet of the Western expansion — finally saw the vision become flesh. There are historians who claim he’s been talking about starting this AO since the Civil War. Today, he stood vindicated.

And it felt like a convergence…

THE THANG

4 Rounds:

10 Real Blockees (with jump — no counterfeit knockoffs)

20 Overhead Press

30 Swings

40 Goblet Squats

50 Incline Merkins

Run ladder: 250m / 500m / 750m / 1000m

No audibles. No mercy. No retreat.

The field spread naturally. Vests were plentiful. Mumblechatter was abundant.

It was loud. It was unified. It felt significant.

THE FINISH

As rounds concluded and lungs burned, those finishing early did not wander.

We rounded up.

Together, we bear crawled 50 meters — symbolically pushing the Western Front line forward.

At the line, we dropped into plank and held for the six.

And we held the line.

No one finished alone.

That moment will matter more than the reps.

NMM

Sea-Man went out front early and simply never came back. Blind Date is rapidly becoming a fast-hole — quietly dangerous. Tonka wore no less than 60 pounds in his vest and shed a single bead of sweat. It is suspected he hydrates exclusively with motor oil.

Drama Queen complained the entire time while absolutely obliterating the workout. Turnover informed me, “I knew you would come up with something stupid like this, Rollback… and yet I still came out.” (Wearing a vest.) Life choices were questioned. Mostly his.

Greenspan is subtly evolving into Mongoose 2.0 — issuing surface condition reports and offering unsolicited terrain analysis. Good to see him out, even if the grass was not perfectly manicured to Olympic standards.

Schneider muttered something about “not coming back.” We’re confident that means he’ll be early next week.

Schlitz provided running commentary unsuitable for publication.

Zima showed up in what can only be described as a styrofoam weight vest with a styrofoam coupon. OSHA has been notified.

Slow Pitch rounded the field like he was tagging second and heading for third. The glory days live on.

Data appeared outside of Rock Quarry and Purgatory — a rare wildlife sighting.

Madoff came in from down range (Louisiana) proving once again that the Western Front has national reach.

Singing Cowboy and Wahoo kept steady cadence.

Drip smiled like he always does.

Frostbite (Nantan and War Baby) quietly supported the launch.

Adobe, Zephyr, Palin, Ziggy Stardust — all in the mix.

Spicoli and Lambchop were deeply affronted at the audacity of launching a Friday bootcamp instead of remaining loyal to Urban Assault. Their feelings were processed extensively in absentia. Prayers were offered for their AO during CoT. We wish them well in their time of transition.

Rubber Ducky smiled the smile of a man who can finally stop saying, “We really should start something over here.”

Drama Queen is reportedly filing a grievance.

Schlitz remains unfiltered.

Turnover’s knees have entered the chat.

3RD F

Prayers lifted for:

• TaxBreak and his wife as they await baby #2 any day.

• Schlitz’s wife, due in April.

• Continued growth and unity at Western Front and across the region.

Announcements:

• Burns is running Sauratown Mountain on Valentine’s Day. See Burns if you hate comfort.

• Slow Pitch has the Q at Western Front next week.

PERSONAL NOTE

I was honored to lead the inaugural beatdown.

This wasn’t just another workout. It felt like planting something. The western edge of our region now has a line in the sand — and men willing to hold it.

Western Front is open. Now we grow it.

Bring an FNG. Bring a vest. Bring a friend who thinks he’s too busy.

Advance the line. Hold the line.
