Parliament with a Twist

When I was asked to Q Parliament, I was excited to lead a group of men for a block only, no running beatdown. Prepped and ready to go, mother nature had other plans. The twist part of this Parliament beatdown was it was held at Village Idiocy without any blocks. So what other workout did I have planned that was minimal running (slow, slow mosey)? Some Alphabet Soup!

Today’s Spotify playlist was deemed “The Best Beach Playlist of All Time” by Spotify….yeah that certainly was not the case.

Warmup:

Side straddle hops, 5 count deep squats with a short pause, whirley with a clap, the dr.toot stretch (or the stretchy stretch as toot calls it),Michael Phelps, seal claps and overhead claps.

The thang:

What is alphabet soup without covering all 26 letters? The alphabet was broken down into 4 groups, 2 groups of 6 and 2 groups of 7. The workout was Tabata style so each workout was 35 seconds on, 12 seconds off.

For Group 1 and 2, each group was completed twice and then a very light mosey (slowsey) for active recovery (I know, I know I broke Parliament code and will never be asked to Q again). Group 3 and 4 was completed once with a slowsey active recovery.

After The Thang was completed, all PAX enjoyed some hot coffee, thank you Tonka, and enjoyed a great Q Source conversation. We discussed working out as a group vs with yourself, your body being a temple for the Holy Spirit, chasing those who are faster than you and many more topics. Thank you for leading the Q Source Ziggy!

  • As you read above, or skipped over, Spotify named today’s playlist The Best Beach Playlist of All Time. I wanted to throw in some beach music because I have been listening to Frozen playlist on repeat because my kids are home and that’s what they want to hear. Anyway, Subfloor gave Spotify a quick challenge flag and said this is not the best beach playlist ever.
  • Superfly with a strong showing today. Although he didn’t say much, he was working as hard as he always does.
  • Sea-Man was teetering back and forth between Parliament with a twist and Flatline. We were happy he joined us at VI and we are better because of it!
  • Ziggy made the workout look easy, but I learned afterward during Q Source that he wanted to talk smack about the burpees but he noticed he was standing right next to the Q so he couldn’t. It was also cool seeing Ziggy in his natural teaching element during Q Source. Guy is a natural!
  • Drama Queen and I were chatting about our neighborhood and how the roads were still pretty sketchy getting out of there. No excuses for DQ though, just results and he showed up and showed out.
  • Tonka made it possible for YHC to Q today as not only were the roads sketchy in my neighborhood and he has AWD but my car battery is dead (fun times!). It’s a good thing school is probably cancelled until May because I wouldn’t be able to get my son there anyway until I can get out of my neighborhood and replace the battery.
  • Honorable mention to Starfish’s car (well, we think it was your car)!

Thank y’all for letting me lead today!
