The call went out and the PAX answered, assembling under cover of darkness for a Christmas journey that was never meant to be comfortable. The census was called, and the warm-up set the tone as we prepared for the long road ahead.

Mary and Joseph’s journey became our own as partners took turns carrying the load, one man moving while the other worked — because no one makes it to BethMAYHEM alone. At the inn, rejection was universal: wall sits burned, burpees piled up, and every station reminded us there was no room.

The Shepherds kept watch, fatigue setting in, when angels appeared without warning — whistles blew and burpees rained down. Finally, the Wise Men arrived bearing gifts that were anything but light, each coupon a reminder that wisdom often comes with weight.

We finished at the manger — low to the ground, emptied, but together. Amid the mayhem, there was purpose, brotherhood, and a reminder that the journey matters as much as the destination. COT closed us out with gratitude for the season, the suffering, and the men beside us on the road.
