No Drama Just Queen at The Distillery

QIC: Drama Queen

Date: 01/27/2022

PAX: Van Gogh, Schneider, 60 Minutes, Harden, Sour Mash, DQ

After a while the Q creativity starts to wane.  YHC had rolled this one out a few times before and with a few updates and variations, 5 pax joined me for a Queen playlist and beatdown on a chilly morning at The Distillery.

We first gathered some blocks – the walking and arm movement got the blood flowing.  After gathering near the drive thru awning, we warmed up to Bohemian Rhadpsody while changing warmup exercises as the music changes tone.

Next up was a trio of songs – Another One Bites the Dust, Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race.  Exercises were loosely matched to the tunes and Van Gogh named it Musical Dora.  P1 performed exercise while P2 ran.  Flap jack upon return of P2 and continue this until song changed.  Exercises were Another One Bites the Dust Merkins, Fat Bottomed Girl Squats and of course Freddie Mercs for Bicycle Race.

Time for the blocks.  It was We Will Rock/Block you and We Are the Champions.  Exercise was curl press.  Idea was to continue thru entire two song combo but we Omahaed for a few down and back laps to break up the arm misery.

Under Pressure brought the most comments and variations of exercise.  Idea was to bring back the once regularly used partner merkin.  While none of these pax were newbies, few remembered how to do these.  Proper form is P1 in merkin position with P2’s legs on P1s back while P2 is in plank position (under pressure – get it).  Lots of mc during this portion of the workout and some actual exercise done.

Finally, the last Queen song was Crazy Little Thing Called Love and since we all love burpees we did one for every time Freddie (or the band singing backup for some of us) sang “love”.

That was all the music from DQ the DJ, so blocks were returned and we did a little popcorn Mary with all calling at least one exercise.

Done right on time

NMM

Sour Mash knows all the words for Bohemian Rhapsody #nosurprise

60 Minutes added the block for EC on Fat Bottomed Girl squats

Van Gogh liked not having to count during “Musical Dora”  Also better allowed him to concentrate on form

Schneider and Harden knocked out the work in their usual giddy, talkative manner #not

Comments during Under Pressure ranged from – “spread your legs”  “why don’t you try it on your back” “oh I thought the guy on top was doing it”  all while listening to music from Queen in front of a Baptist Church – #peoplegonnatalk
