Don’t Know who has this week’s Q at Purgatory, but good luck beating this one

QIC: Burlap

Date: 02 OCT 2021

PAX: D-Day (winner), Splash (would have tied but left too soon), Boomerang (hates punting), High Cotton (problems communicating time), BAM (kicks like a soccer player), Giles (has patience with old people), Spam (let's not talk about the Bears), SuperFly (came through on naming FNG), Bulldog (still waiting for UGa collapse), Sundial (FNG), and Burlap (QIC)

Football was theme for this workout that was not too hard on the body but may have been tough on the egos.

THE THANG:

Warm-o-rama

SSH, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers, Copperhead Squats, Running with Scissors, Peter Parkers, Toy Soldiers, and Hillbillies, all in a crisp cadence.

Cornerback drills in parking lot through about 15 spaces culminating in one of the pax throwing a football at the cornerback.  Most were caught.  Repeato and repeato with different QBs.

Mosey to rock pile and get a heavy rock for no running and low reps.  Except Q didn’t get a rock but used a light football.  Q called an exercise (ex., bent over rows) for 11 single count reps OYO.  Put rock down and rotate.  Now pax with the football calls an exercise and all do 11 reps.  Rotate through all 10 pax present at the time.  Ended up with 9 different exercises, with only curls being duplicated.

Return rock and mosey to backstop for PUNT, KICK and PASS

PUNT — one pax punts the football while the rest try to catch on the fly.  A couple were caught.  Then all pax perform the following exercises as we rotate through all 10 punters:  Prisoner get-ups, Squats, Double Wide Merkins, Skip to playground and back, hand release Burpees (only 2), Jump Squats, Crunchy Frogs, backwards run to other playground, monkey humpers, and side squats, with Q calling the number each time depending on how he felt and how much time was left.

Mosey to soccer goal for KICK — pax takes turns trying to kick a football from about 12 yards over the goal and within the imaginary uprights.  Only D-Day and Splash succeeded.

Mosey to edge of field by road for PASS — pax pair up.  Take turns as QB and WR and go out for a pass.  Repeat for about 6 minutes until time to return for Mary.

Surprise — FIND FNG in the parking lot at 0754.  High Cotton and FNG miscommunicated re:  start time.  FNG joins anyway!

Mary  —  something like Low Flutters, LBCs, Heels to heaven, Mutton crunches, and Dying Cockroaches all IC.

FIN

COT

YHC took us out and tried to remember Giles’ wife and others battling cancer among other concerns.

NMM

Naming FNG was a little slow as were struggling to come up with a universally known cheap timepiece.  Cassio was a leader when SuperFly finally inserted Sundial.  Bingo.  Welcome, Sundial.

Kicking and punting footballs are not easy with no warm-up and not having done it in, say, 25 years.

The Q was going to name Splash and D-Day as co-winners because they both made their PATs, but Splash left early in the COT, so D-Day won.  High Cotton and BAM were the best punters, and High Cotton can still through a nice deep spiral.

Grass was dewy and wet.   YHC waited for his shoes to dry before typing this, so I am posting it 6 days later.

Thanks to all for humoring me with the fun and games.   And we got in a little workout.

Peace,

Burlap

Burlap continues to bring high level themed Qs to Purgatory. First the Great Race and now this. Good stuff….except for most of our forms on the kicking.
