Memorial Day Murph 2021

QIC: Van Gogh

Date: 05/31/2021

PAX: @Burns, @H.O.G, @Crash, @Suede, @woodpecker, @Triple Lindy, @Atrophy, @F3 Singing Cowboy, @Bueller, @Sour Mash, @Drip, @The Deuce, @Fender, @Zima, @Paw Patrol (FNG), @van.gogh

This year, YHC had a patriotic playlist to set the tone for our upcoming efforts, leading with Jimi Hendrix’ Star Spangled Banner. Fender mentioned he had a treat for us the night prior, and upon arrival YHC saw he had his guitar Amped and ready to go. And boy, what a treat indeed! He proceeded to play a Hendrix-esque rendition of our Star Spangled Banner.

And with that, we launched toward Jamison in case any PAX parked in the wrong spot and headed toward The Speakeasy.

Zima, Spicoli, and Former FNG Paw Patrol were already started.

Some guys modified, some guys counted with Pennies, some wrote with chalk and some were faster than others… but all gave it some effort and did their best to do it in honor of those who gave all.

NMM

  • Lots of first timers for the  Murph today!! #TClaps, men!!
  • Still amazed by Fenders rendition of our National Anthrm… also amazing was how easy he made the Murph look later.
  • Great to finally workout with Atrophy for the first time innnn ever? He brought a “dime bag” – full of pennies, to help him keep count of rounds. Dude had flawless squat form BTW
  • Triple Lindy looked like he needed a bigger Vest… I learned he had a peg board for traversing at home that his kids and dog beat the pegs up for and that Woodpecker was helping him make new pegs!
  • Zima was flying this morning, must have been his patriotic socks!
  • Zima brought out his neighbor, now know as Paw Patrol because he has a dog he had to leave to feed before the black beard challenges and his kids love the show. TClaps to a making the Murph your first post!
  • Sour Mash was kicking ass today, he brought the bike to get his miles in and was pushing hard through all reps. YHC might have EHed him a little bit…
  • The Duece, Woodpecker, and YHC bonded over a discussion on bowel issues. But I’m the end, it was Spicoli who actually went in to use Zima’s house.
  • Crash worked in some WWIIs and has solid supine form. Except that one round where his get slipped and he almost ended up laying down in the mulch..
  • Bueller made the ROTC boys at Wake proud this morning, and YHC was glad to see him post with us!
  • Suede had to work today and STILL got it done this morning… made YHC wonder where some other guys were….
  • HOG was sprinting his last lap, get the man a vest to slow him down already!
  • Burns, our resident Weasel Shaker and Baseball Coach extraordinaire went Chippendale briefly before leaving, he worked hard and it showed!

Thank you for posting men. The Memorial Day Murph helps give YHC some perspective, where putting yourself through a tough workout such as this, named after Lt Michael P Murphy, is a small price to pay compared to his ultimate sacrifice. Was honored to share the time with you all,
