Burns’ Hell Week Day 4 – Ring of Fire at TRQ 11.5.2020

QIC: Burns

PAX: Turnover, Root Canal, Green Acres (WD), Ziggy Stardust, Organ Grinder, Plunger, Undertow, Argyle, Goofy, Total Recall, Wobegon, Hazer, Sgt Schultz, Boomerang, Bevo, Spamalot, Burns (WB/QIC)

YHC was amazed at the turnout this morning. I met up with Wobegon for a 2 mile EC run beforehand, and we rolled back into the parking lot around 0526 to a decently sized crew already gathered. In the few minutes that followed, another half-dozen or so pax drove up and joined our growing circle. Usually the more pax the better, but on this particular morning I hadn’t planned for such a large crew. After looking over the previous few weeks of TRQ backblasts, it seemed as though the average numbers had been between 8-12 so YHC brought 12 stations with him to set up in a ring of fire situation.  Once the numbers were way out of hand to the tune of 17 pax, some improvisation was needed.

WoR – SSH x20 IC, Abe Vs x8 IC, Whirlys x20IC, Jack Reachers x20IC, Michael Phelps x20IC

Mosey to the rock pile

After doing some quick #maths I laid out 9 stations around the grass circle and instructed the pax to select a large rock. We’d be rotating around the circle in a clockwise fashion, and in between each station the pax would have a “rest” station. One station was a bear crawl from the top of the circle to the school and back, and that would serve as our timing for the call to rotate.

Stations: Curls, Squat Thrusters, Rock Swings, American Hammers, Skull Crushers, Reverse Lunges, Alternating Arm-up Merkins, Bent-over Rows, Bearcrawl

Round 1 rest stations: Al Gore w/rock

Round 2 rest stations: High plank

Round 3 rest stations: Reverse plank

After three trips around the circle, we disposed of our rocks, gathered up the cones, and moseyed back to the launch for 2 mins of Mary – LBCs x20IC, Low Flutter x20IC, Alabama Prom Dates x6IC

NMM

It was great seeing Hazer and Organ Grinder this morning. Hadn’t seen Hazer in months, and had yet to post with Organ Grinder since his return from a long hiatus. Both put in outstanding work.

By nature of the setup, mumblechatter and 2nd F was reduced to the pax in one’s immediate vicinity – fortunately for me that meant being around a few HIMs of high esteem. Sgt. Schultz, Root Canal, and Spam were all getting after it today while also participating in some good conversation with and near YHC. Music and concerts were the main focus. Sgt Schultz also tried to convince me he was out of shape but I’m not buying it for a second.

Bevo and Turnover had the fastest bear crawls by a wide margin.

Turnover and Root Canal maintained eligibility for the open tab on Sunday.

My “contractual” obligation to WIB keeps me away from TRQ many weeks, but I really enjoy the format and the general vibe of the AO. I definitely need to post there more often.

YHC takes Hell Week downtown to Urban Assault tomorrow.

CoT: Give blood; see Splash for details. Prayers for Undertow who lost his father last Monday. Prayers for two of TR’s coworkers – one in PA hospitalized with COVID and one in NC whose husband is hospitalized following a heart attack. Prayers for $5 Footlong who is battling multiple health complications and searching/waiting for medical answers.

Boomerang, thank you for the keys. I think they’re with the cone that went missing – I brought 12 and left with 11. Oh well.

This may have been a record number of Pax at TRQ. Will have to consult the books to confirm. Well done!
