Purgatory by Green Acres (as told by Spamalot)

QIC: Green Acres

Date: 09/26/20

PAX: Undertow, Pony Express, Ripple, Bam, High Cotton, Burlap, Parkay (WB), D-Day, Boomerang, Splash, Offsides, Spamalot, Bulldog, Balco, Interference, Sgt. Schultz, Plunger, Lemming, TPS, Green Acres (WD)

Good morning Pax.  And welcome to the next installment of “Spamalot as Ghost Writer for Green Acres.”  Why, may you ask?  Because Green Acres asked.  And who am I to say no to him.  Please note, the actual back blast provided by Green Acres will appear in quotation marks.  All other comments belong to YHC.  Fortunately, we had a film crew present, who were able to capture actual footage.  #provemewrong

As Green Acres does not have a watch, he mandated that the Pax tell him when it was time to start.  At that time, it began as Green Acres appeared out of the mist:

Ok – so Green Acres is allegedly 65….let that sink in.  65, with about 5 percent body fat.  Of course he only wears tank tops and shorts.  Seriously.  65!

A little research found some archival footage of Green Acres from 1989:

Ok, ok, back to the Back Blast.

“Mission and CP, then Warmarama all IC: SSH, AVigoda, Vigoda (slow) Whirly, Imp W, squats, arm swirls, merkins.”

As the Pax knows, the acceptable number of reps for a warm up is somewhere between 10 and 15.  Naturally, Green Acres made us do 20 reps   But the Merkins were double count.  As Pony Express noted…this is likely a foreshadowing.  (Spoiler alert…it was…and it was terrible).

“Toy soldier walk to corner, mosey to Lido”

Bam, D-Day, and YHC headed to the Pit – as there were no more chairs available overlooking the pool.

“20 ea L step ups OYO, dips IC x20, copperhead sq ICx 20, wide merkins IC x15, howling monkey, 15 derkins OYO then repeato all that”

So the above is just darn difficult to do.  I think this is the 4th Green Acres Q I have suffered through.  And all of them have had this portion.  Too many reps and the howling monkeys are awful…especially with 20 guys.  And to top it off…repeato!!  Why?!!?

“On to rocks, all IC x15: curls, overhead press, slightly bo rows, skull crushers, then same but 10 ea.”

Q directed the pax to pick a rock that they might regret.  I’ll tell you what I regret….

“On the way to playground near tennis courts, 25 jump squats at 3 corners of track”

This was perhaps the “easiest” part of the workout.  Yes, 75 jump squats were the easiest part!

“Divide Pax into 2 grps, 10 pull-ups and 25 merkins for all after flip flop, then 30 WW2 sit-ups, then to tennis courts for Wall Ball Crawl.”

“Pax on hands vertically on fence, hand walk sideways x 2 fence posts and back to start if possible . ”

It was not possible.

“Back to parking lot for Mary: IC low flutter x 25, LBC x 25, Mutton crunch 15 ea side, Fred Merc x20, plank for almost 2 minutes with a few Merkins, DONE”

NMM

See above.  There was plenty of MC.  The Q did not care.

The Q got zero points for originality and for music but errbody got to sweat and enjoy an hour of fellowship. The Mumble Chatter was mostly groans and shouts of “excessive!” so I assumed they were talking about the amount of Mumble Chatter. Thanks for posting, Spam! And as you see, I finally can login (thanks Van Gogh!) Thanks for the keys Offsides.

Of course it was awful, but good times! Quality re-telling and nice video additions. Lots of good MC, lots of fellowship, and not much running. Sounds like a winning combo to YHC!
