It’s Raining Something at TRQ

QIC: Sassy

Date: 09/24/2020

PAX: Organ Grinder, Green Acres, Boomerang, Sgt. Schultz, Argyle, Rust Bucket, Total Recall, Sassy

The Rock Quarry welcomed 8 of us to its misery to find out what the sore Q had in store for us. Yes, the Q even wondered what the Q had in store for today. We carried on about our business and got to work right away. First, the mission and five core principles, which were recited poorly by YHC, but would have been hopefully accepted by the Spamtan in all its glory.

Warm-O-Rama
SSHs
Squats
ISTs
Arm Swirly Things F & B (HOLD)
Overhead Clap (HOLD)
Seal Clap (HOLD)
Moroccan Nightclubs (Recover)
Whirly with the Clap
Abe Vigoda
Toy Soldier

The Thang
It has been some time since YHC has posted to TRQ, so coming up with something different from Tuesday’s non-running workout was a challenge. However, it didn’t seem that we had the strictness of no running at TRQ like there is in WeFoCo and Parliament. YHC figured to push the buttons so we went on a mosey to the rocks as soon as Warm-O-Rama was over.

Grab a medium to larger rock for starters…this stirred up slight discussions about what that even means. YHC doesn’t know, just something that takes effort to pick up. The goal was to target different parts of the body with each set of exercises with the rock. On our six we went and did the following x20 OYO each:

American Hammer
WWIIs with press
Hallelujah Low Dolly
Hallelujah Low Flutter

Capri Lap around the corner island and Repeato followed by another Capri Lap.

Grab two smaller rocks (small enough to hold in each hand for upper body workouts). It was at this moment that YHC remembered the pivotal mistake from Tuesday that was about to be made again this morning: no music with a mainly stationary workout. YHC did what any idiotic Q would do, ask the PAX what they want to hear! “80s Dance!” rang out and onward YHC was to discover what that sounds like to Amazon Music. Pushed play and we went on about our business doing:

Curl Press
Bent Over Rows
OH Press
Upright Row
Front Raise
Skull Crushers
Bus Drivers

Capri Lap and Repeato followed by another Capri Lap.

Oh, Amazon Music, what did it generate for us? The tune involves raining and folks that post to F3 workouts. YHC will let you put the pieces together, but the PAX absolutely crushed this set with it playing in the background. The other awesome thing is that was the only song on the playlist. Despite the consistent pleas to keep the song on repeat, YHC Omahaed to 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s Classic Hits, only for that to start a knockoff version of Under the Boardwalk. 70s Disco Party Hits didn’t yield anything tangible either, so we ended up on YHC’s playlist involving Carolina Beach Music. Once General Johnson and The Chairmen of the Board came on, the PAX were ready. Sgt. Schultz even admitted he was ready to shag.

Back to the workout…go back to your medium/large rock and do the following exercises x10 OYO:
Goblet Squat
Alternating Forward Lunge
Alternating Side Lunge
Alternating Reverse Lunge
Squat Press

Capri Lap, Repeato, and put the rocks away. Mosey back to the start for Mary.

Mary
Freddy Mercs
Penguin Crunch
Mutton Crunch
LBCs

Done!

It was basically a perfect morning weather wise. It was certainly a “fun” Q considering the music technical difficulties (thanks Amazon). Jeff Bezos is laughing at us as we try to listen to the playlists that his staff put together. Thankfully the PAX were easy on the Q this morning, I guess because it was a mainly respectful group of men!

Great to see Organ Grinder getting back after it again! You would never know this guy is just coming back as he was motoring through the workout and doing an amazing job pumping rocks.

Green Acres and YHC got to chat a couple times through the workout about F3 naming, exchanging pleasantries, and realizing we had in fact worked out with each other before at the 2am Shmedfest workout. Oh yeah, Shmedfest, put it on your calendar for August 2021!

Schultzy and Boomerang witnessed the music disaster of Tuesday; however, YHC thinks they liked the music Tuesday over this morning. But again, Sgt. Schultz may still be shaggin’ on the Boulevard after Chairmen of the Board.

YHC doesn’t recall working out with Argyle before, but like most guys, he was usually beating YHC to the end of reps and was at or near the lead in the moseying parts.

YHC guesses Rust Bucket warmed up in this workout and will probably do a real workout after this one. Such a strong dude and a nice guy too, great work RB!

Total Recall was surprisingly quiet on the music front. While the respectful PAX were respectful, YHC figured TR would pipe up with something in the music blunders, but actually seemed to enjoy the tunes quite a bit. YHC could just be making all of that up too, who knows.

Great push, men! It was a pleasure working out with you and expect YHC back at TRQ in the near future! Boomerang, the keys got stuck in the rocks while it was raining, you’ll need to go dig them out.

That’s some high quality pax in attendance! And looks like a fine beatdown, even if Schultzy was there.

FWIW, Goofy launched TRQ, it was the first core/non-running workout, all others are imitators. How “strict” the non-running portion is does vary, but Q’s should be attentive because some pax are a little gimpy and post to the non-running workouts for a reason.
