Resistor reached out to YHC a couple of months ago for a Q trade, which I gladly accepted and forgot about. Having meant to post to Redline prior this Q as part of the AO Challenge that Palin never followed through on (still waiting….), I thought I would get out to the track at least once before being tasked to lead these avid runners on the quest for miles & fellowship. Didn’t happen. Whoops

YHC brought out an old conditioning workout from my high school baseball coach (at which Resistor expressed shock that baseball players ever ran) that he called ‘The Tommy Green.’ I looked up who Tommy Green was and got…nothing. Some guy with the same name ran the entire state of Utah in 2018 to raise money and awareness to combat human trafficking, so that’s cool.  Tommy is also the name of the Green Power Ranger.  But seeing as I wasn’t in high school in 2018 and my head coach was an old school guy who didn’t seem like the Power Ranger type, I have no idea where the name came from.  Didn’t even share it with the pax this morning because it felt so inconsequential. The workout, however, still brings the heat despite being named after an apparent nobody.

Warm up mosey to the track with instructions to stretch the legs while I explained the workout. Less than 20% of the present pax heeded that suggestion.  Pax were informed that we would be going at two speeds this am – mosey & 5k race pace. A third speed was adopted partway through the workout by many, YHC included, and that speed was the recovery walk.

The thang:

  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 100m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 200m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 300m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 400m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 500m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 600m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 700m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 800m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 700m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 600m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 500m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 400m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 300m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 200m
  • Mosey 100m, 5krp 100m

Completing the entire ladder would accumulate to appx. 7900m or just under 5 miles. With the mosey to & from the track some pax eclipsed the 5 mile threshold, which was debated as a potential AO distance record.  YHC was certainly not in the front of the pack and made it through the 300m run on the way back down the ladder before time was called, which means a significant majority of the HIMs out today trekked more than 4.5mi.

It was great to see TR again, I haven’t had the pleasure of running into him yet since he’s come off the IR…we shared a lap or two together before he realized I was only slowing him down. Zuck, Winklevoss, and Balco were the pacesetters this morning, with Plunger, Valdese, Resistor, and Hitman not far behind.  YHC spent most of the morning getting to know one of our newest pax, Cat Call. He lives just up the street from HP and hails from Knoxville, TN originally. He also mentioned that he popped into The Work last night and really enjoyed the conversation, so TClaps to those guys for keeping the tough conversations alive.  Manscape was his usual self, putting in work with no [audible] complaints and only the slightest glisten of sweat at the end suggesting he could have done the whole workout again.  YHC will have to arrange his weekly plans to include Redline more frequently, because these runners are a jovial bunch and I certainly could use the 2nd F.  Not to mention the general increase in fitness level that will come with some more regular running.  Can’t skip laps or miles the way you can skip a few reps of burpees when Zima calls 40 in a row #salty

Announcements/CoT

The Shmed is happening, and if you haven’t heard of it you must be trying really hard to avoid it.  Some awesome things are happening in the build up to the big day, culminating in 24hrs of CSAUP fitness challenges to raise money & food donations for Crisis Control Ministries.  Visit www.theshmed.com for more info, or contact H.O.G., Greenspan, Wobegon, Spam, or others.  Cans are being collected at AOs all this week and during the event for a canned food drive, and there are monetary donations and pledges being collected as well.  New to the fold just this week is a half-marathon following the 2AM beatdown, headed up by Palin.  CSAUP, indeed.

YHC has BnW – Food Lion on Yadkinville Rd on Wednesday – and is heading up IPC week 0 at Hanes Park on Thursday.  If you haven’t signed up for the Iron Pax Challenge (or don’t know anything about it) reach out to YHC or Van Gogh.  Sign up here: https://f3greenwood.com/ironpax-form

Prayers were lifted up for Plunger’s band mate known to us by the moniker ‘The Foot’ and for his family.  He is in hospice care and seems to be near the end of a 2+ yr battle with cancer.  YHC took us out with this in mind & asked for guidance for all of us be more like the SkyQ in our daily livings.

Thank you for the keys, Resistor!

Thank you for the beastly Q. Great planning. It was the first time in a long time that the pax really got the details after the set of directions. I apologize to all the baseball players that can Actually run …I feel like I insulted all this morning. Thanks for Valdez for keeping me on track and distracted by great conversation. Anyone over 55 is always giving out advice , mostly so we can feel good about ourselves for all the screw ups we have had ! SYITG
