It seems like Q responsibilities come in bunches.  YHC can go a month or two without Qing, and then hit a stretch of three Qs in 8 days (see last Thursday through this Friday at TRQ, RedLine, and UA (<<shameless plug)).  Add to that, YHC has been working some nights and even a little on weekends lately.  Add to that the fact that YHC is the speed limit in years and has trouble sleeping more than six consecutive hours.

It all adds up to a tired body and mind.  So, YHC did not spend a lot of time planning this morning’s RedLine.  Based on recent rains and winds, it was best to stay off the streets.  So, to the track went my mind.  YHC does not like the track.  So it fell to the memory of a Q from about 3 years ago by a pax whose identity I have forgotten, but it may be someone who no longer posts.  The workout sucked then, so I thought I would use it.

After a warm-up lap to inspect the track and get loose, the plan that we executed was an interval ladder from 1/4 mile up to 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile to full mile and back down the ladder, with rest/recovery in between to be walking or jogging one-quarter of the length that you just ran.

At 0610, gather at the ‘head’ of track and mosey back to start.

COT

  • Sign up for a GAS group; see Hazer.  YHC recommends from personal experience.
  • OCRs coming — see Palin, Van Gogh, and Huckleberry.
  • Walter White was slow as usual with a 2:37:09 marathon in Berlin.  He timed the race to avoid my Redline Q.  (Congrats!)
  • Look for Twitter to donate money, supplies, and soon your physical strength and presence to folks on the coast in the wake of Florence.
  • Sac has a guest room/house that is available to evacuees for free.  Spread the word if you have family or friends in need.
  • JB and Peacemaker and others on the Injured Reserve.
  • Those affected by Florence.
  • YHC took us out.

NMM

  • YHC was in the back and got passed by almost all the pax, some 2-3 times.
  • Zima’s recovery jog pace was only slightly slower than my mile running pace.
  • YHC got a chance to catch up with ‘old’ friend, Chomper, during a cool down portion.
  • Manscape was diametrically opposite YHC for 39 of the 40 minutes of the workout on the track.
  • Not a lot of chatter.  A lot of sweat.
  • We noticed other non-RedLine runners, curiously including a pax named Drip.  Good work.
  • Sometimes the most boring, straightforward workouts are the hardest.  This qualified in my mind.

Thanks to Manscape for his faithfulness as Site Q.  Shout out to Toto for starting this terrible AO years ago; it works.  And thanks to the Pax this morning for putting up with my uninspired, unimaginative plan for the unlucky 13 of us.

Peace,

Burlap
