Ultimate Friburpthree

QIC: Hoptoberfest

Date: 9/16/2017

PAX: Mongoose, Lucky (Raleigh), Plunger, Sgt. Schultz, Burlap, Bunyan, Juice Box, MR. Capri Sun (WB), Goofy, Landshark, Parquet, Bulldog, Drama Queen, Schneider, Boomerang (WD), Ripple, Sour Mash, Warped?, Troy Bilt, Spam A Lot, Pony Express, Manicure, THE Singing Cowboy, Hoptoberfest

It felt like a “convergatory” as 24 showed up to play the 3rd installment of Ultimate Frisburpee.  It went as follows:

Warm O Rama
SSHx20
IWx20
Mountain Climbers x 15
Whirly’s Got the clap x 10
Abe Vigodas x 10

Mosey one lap around the track to prepare.  Since we had 12 a side, we expanded the “regulation field” I had set up to accommodate the craziness.  After explaining the rules of ultimate and the concept of descending burpees (YHC couldn’t remember the word descending) we were conveniently able to segregate based on the whites and yellows/oranges vs all the rest.  The game went as follows:

1st half: 25 minutes due to a long final point

The light team took the first point on the back of Burlap’s solid handling.  From there YHC’s team took over on the strength of the 2.o’s.  They ran hard the entire game, played solid defense, and by that I mean, knocked the crap out their respective 1.0’s.  We took a 5-2 lead into half in part due to YHC’s “Callahan” which, for the uninitiated is an interception in the end zone.

Halftime was 5 minutes of Mary with the usuals

The second half was necessarily cut short due to the long final point.  For 15 minutes, we traded many turnovers, but team Yellow made it a more balanced game as Plunger, Burlap, and Schneider and TSG (who gave his whippersnapper 2.0 the what’s what in the 2nd half).  The first half deficit was too much to overcome and YHC’s team held serve to win 8-5

MC:

I heard Troy-Bilt tell Spam A Lot that this was the most fun he’s had with his dad at one of these (paraphrasing) and it made my morning the know that young TB was enjoying this time with his Dad.

MR. Capri Sun is the only PAX who has been to all 3 of my UFB workouts, so kudos to him.

I could be wrong, but this may be the least grumbling about performing 100+ burpees in the history of F3.

COT: FNG Challenge through Oct 31, theBenjamin, 2nd Biannual Beer Run, email YHC @ jaeilbes@gmail.com if you want to participate in the brew.  No experience necessary.  Keep an eye out for emails from Pony about helping out with the parking thing again.

PR: Sgt Schultz coworkers husband is dying of cancer (Bill).

YHC took us out thankful for the men of F3 who enrich my life and make me a better person.

Great workout! A fun change up from the normal fare. Some impressive pax with the catches and throws! Totally agreed on the commment about least grumbling for 100 burpees. Always less than 5x at time

Great idea and great Q! This needs to be a (semi) regular event. Lots of fun despite the excessive number of burpees.

I have a feeling that some Pax may start throwing the old frisbee around just before Hoptoberfest Qs next time in order to avoid the dreaded turnover burpee. One Pax (nameless but he has been called a Fasthole) suggested that once we got past the five turnover part and didn’t have to do burpees that we purposely extend the point and not score for several minutes.
