I’m your Huckleberry

QIC: Crash

Date: 11/7/2021

PAX: Ziggy Stardust, Phoenix, Price is Right, Boo Boo, Drip, Crash

Huckleberry called for a Substi-Q around 12:30 Fri. YHC believes Drip and I were tracking this until about 7:30 YHC offered to take it. Evidently there had been some texting going on and a backup arranged.  Huck provided Drip with a workout. I’d been to urban assault Fri am with Drip as Q and following up with Drip we agreed he was fairly Q’d out and YHC could take it.

Ziggy and Phoenix showed up, and the 4 of us got started with warmups, then Drip came in about halfway through warmup and Boo Boo and his canine companion showed up in time to join us to Mosey to the tennis court.

Warm up

Eric Church music accompaniment was commenced, no one complained.

Mission / Core principles with a special focus on the ‘cold’ part and also on turning up even if you are in a different city.

SSH, IST, Hillbillies, Abe Vigoda, AST Forward, AST Backward, calls for more stretching led to my trying to repeat some of Drips called stretches from day before, plank, right foot by right hand, left hand up, right hand up, left foot by left hand, right hand up, left hand up, then lie on back, stretch left leg over right and right leg over left.

The Thing

Half tennis courts, bear crawl half way (center of 3rd court), mosey rest of way to opposite side, repeat: crawl bear < half way back (pass 3rd white line, end of 2nd court) then mosey,  crab walk half way then mosey, crab walk backward < half way back then mosey, side shuffle half way, turn around side shuffle half way. karaoke half way, turn around, karaoke half way. Mosey to track.

YHC broke out the tiles with exercises, to spell “IM YOUR HUCKLEBERRY” which with only one tile per letter went something like “I M Y O U R H C K L E B”. Flip one letter each lap in order. Do exercises under letter, run a lap or walk/lunge walk out 60-90 seconds and back 60-90 seconds, then do first + second letter exercises, and so on, turning over a new letter each time and doing all preceding exercises. Do 20 of each unless 10 or 30 made more sense or per preference of the PAX. The exercises ended up being (doing my best to recall numbers):

squat 20, monkey humpers 20, donkey kick 10, lbc 30, freddie merc 20, burpees 10, h2h 10 or 20, mountain climber 20, ww2 20

We made it through about h2h 10 and ~2.5 miles running and it was time to finish so we skipped a couple later letters and added a single round of ww2’s.

For a total of about 200 squats, 180 monkey humpers, 80 donkey kicks, 210 lbc, 120 freddie mercs, 50 burpees, 80 h2h, 20 mountain climbers, 20 ww2’s

To shelter by track for

Great group, and the format allowed us to stay together the whole workout. A fair bit of health related chatter I noticed among all the PAX.  A reminder health is on everyone’s mind and not to take it for granted.

Ziggy was first to show up, and said as he realized I had a speaker “Are you Qing today?” and I said yes and then stood between him and his car, preventing him from leaving. He is always pushing.

I think Boo Boo’s dog likes the workouts with more running.

Drip’s bionic knee needed some oil this am, a couple of comments from the PAX ensued during the lap runs.

Phoenix was out with whoever was in front nearly every lap.

#Price is Right from Raleigh area posted, having parked up by the Y, his M was in town doing a race of sorts, running and swimming. I asked him if it was indoor swimming – no – outdoor, in a river or lake, in November. Weather report this morning was 36 with a ‘feels like’ of 31. He fit right in and plenty of chatter. Also one letter was blank / dealer’s choice and it was his choice to add in LBCs which was a pretty good choice.

Great to see this group out on the darkest morning of the year.
