What may or may not have happened at Purgatory

QIC: Greenacres

Date: 06/20/20

PAX: Tinker (WB), Burlap, Lemming, High Cotton, Undertow, Red Eye, Cardiac Arrest, Bluto, Bulldog, Sgt. Schultz, D-Day, Splash, Bam, Parkay, Ziggy Stardust, Boomerrang, Green Acres (WD and QIC)

The date…Saturday, June 20.  The place…Purgatory.  The above Pax eagerly await the latest administration of pain from none other the Greenacres.

Full confession – YHC was not present as YHC and my 2.0 were in Greensboro for the Juneteenth Ruck.  Was a great and educational time.  Look for F3WinstonSalem to sponsor one next year.

For this backblast, Greenacres provided the facts, and YHC may have filled in the blanks….

Greenacres arrived wearing his usual singlet, which showed off his ridiculous muscles.  At this point, Burlap leaned over to Parkay and said, “if you keep this up, one day you will look like Greenacres!”  Sgt. Schultz, overhearing this comment, could not contain himself and blurted out….”And I think Rush is the best band ever!”  Thus, it began.

The Mission Statement and 5 Core Principles were given…flawlessly.  Everyone agreed it was a shame that the Nantan was not present to hear it.

Warm-o-Rama

All exercises were IC for 100 reps each (ok, maybe not 100):  SSH, Abe Vigoda…slow and slow style, Whirly, IST (the correct way, not the Zima way), squats, Arm swirly things, merkins.

At this point, some of the pax were already spent.  More than one commented that if the warm up was that intense, they were doomed.  Bluto thought seriously about just going to the car and leaving.  But High Cotton grabbed him by the arm and encouraged him to stay.

Toy Soldier walk to the top of the hill.

Mosey down the hill to the Lido deck.  Authors note- even before reading the write up that GA sent me, the mere fact that the Lido deck was involved brings back memories of previous GA Qs.  Nothing good EVER came from the work that was done there.  YHC can only assume that howling monkeys were involved.  Let’s read on and see if that happened, shall we???

Find a nice place on the deck.  There was a brief squabble between Splash and  Ziggy about who got to a spot first.  Cooler heads prevailed when Lemming told both of them to “lighten up Francis!”  Sadly, half the pax did not get the reference.  (Looking at you Boomerang and Tinker).

L leg step ups x 20 OYO

R leg step ups x 20 OYO

(at this point, Greenacres began to laugh and the whimpering coming from the pax)

Dips x 20 IC

Copperhead squats x 20 IC

Wide merkins x 12 IC

Howling monkeys (SEE!!  I was right!!)

Derkins x 12 OYO

The roar of complaints was deafening at this point, so Greenacres did the only thing he could…

REPEATO!

Though not noted, YHC hopes the pax were granted a 10 count at this point.

“Mosey to the rock pile!” shouted the Q.  D-Day responded with something to the effect of “over my dead body,” to which the Q indicated that was the point.

Grab a medium size rock for some work.  GreenAcres led by example by picking a boulder the size of of VW car.

Curls, OHP, Bent over rows, skull crushers – all IC x 10

Repeat!  but IC x 15 (who does that???)

Return rocks to pile and head to track.

Mosey to playground near tennis courts, but at each of the 3 corners perform 25 jump squats.  (Apparently, this was a leg day).

At play ground, divide into 2 groups (those that wanted to quit, and those that already did).

Perform the following:

10 pull ups

25 Merkins

Switch

20 WW2

To the courts for Wall Ball Crawl (nice!  like the rhyming)

BTTW on fence.  Hand walk sideways (awful) past 2 posts.  At this point, Splash said “I am outta here!” and left.  (for realz)

Back to playground for another 10 pullups and 25 merkins.

Mosey back to parking lot for Mary.

low flutter x 25, LBC x 25, mutton crunch x 15 (each side), Freddy Mercs x 25 (all IC)

DONE!  PHEW!  YHC is tired just typing this nonsense.

NMM

Tinker is the toughest Tinkerbell that GreenAcres has ever heard of.  He was the first to finish all OYO portions and was always the front of moseys.

The was “some” (I can imagine) MC about excessive number of reps.  The Q did not care.  Why would he?

Strong work by all!!

Schultz took the group out with prayers for love, respect, and kindness for all.  (Amen)
