PAX: Root Canal (WD), Palin (WB), $5 Dollar Footlong, Plunger

Well the mighty remnant of 4 PAX made their way to Flatline today. It was exciting to be back with the keys to this fantastic AO. YHC answered the substiQ call from Whirley and was reminded of the mission which is to keep the heart rate up from the time the bell rings to the time the gavel falls. The usual suspects of the AO were there including $5 footlong, Root Canal, and Palin. YHC had promised clear skies and a beautiful meteor shower but over the night little did we know that a thick cloud cover would arrive and quench all dreams of seeing stars. YHC decided that the pace of the day needed to put the PAX in gears to see different kind of stars so at 5:30 AM we were off.

With the heart rate staying up for the full beatdown as the mission YHC decided to do the Warmorama around the 3,300 foot block that was Marshall street to 4th St to Liberty St the 2nd St. The Warmorama exercises approximately every 250 feet included side straddle hops, windmills, Imperial stormtroopers, mountain climbers, monkey humpers, running with scissors , and yes toy soldiers. The copperhead squad was thrown in there somewhere as you know the order is really not important – let’s just say that it was in its appropriate spot!

With the Warmorama complete YHC determined that the heart rate needed to accelerate in between beat down stations at each of the four corners that included 5 burpees at the corner of Marshall and 4th, 10 merkins at the corner of 2nd and Liberty, 20 Russian twists at the corner of Liberty and 2nd and finally, after ascending the hill, 30 squats at the corner of 2nd and Marshall. The PAX struck a rapid pace completing the loop anywhere between 7:00 and 8:00 minutes with the called exercises working together as a team. We did this 4 times with various block runs being led by different PAX to push the ride. Everyone was working with sufficient pace and form was a key in the later laps.

YHC wanted to keep the theme rolling so we shortened the block for Mary which included low flutters, LBC’s , low dollies, box cutters to carry us home. There was more planned but the gavel came down at 5:15 and with heart rate still racing YHC determined – enough.

NMS
As noted above all of the PAX were working mightily and getting it done- keeping the heart rate up the whole time. It was exciting to see everyone focus on their form and there was very little waiting for the 6 and certainly no time for any of the suggested planks or Al Gore’s while we waited. There was good pace, good form and great camaraderie today. It was a pleasure to lead this group of men and I would say that we may have saw a star or two – just not the kind originally planned! 3.97 miles were covered today.
