The PAX:  Buttermaker, Bulldog (WD), Sassy (WB), Schneider, SGT Schultz, Spamalot

6 PAX assembled on a beautiful Monday morning at the Clemmons YMCA to experience the fun of Village Idiocy.   We did in fact have fun, along with knocking out 144 reps (a dozen dozens being otherwise known as a Gross) of 4 exercises as determined by a deck of cards.

WARMARAMA:  SSHs, ISTs, Arm Swirly Things (forward & reverse), Seal Claps, Whirly with the Claps, and Abe Vigoda

THE THANG:   Mosey to the far end of the side parking lot (which was empty), where a deck of cards and a Weinke was waiting.

We took turns drawing 4 cards at a time, which resulted in 13 sets of exercises.  The card suits were divided up as follows:

  • Spades = Merkins
  • Clubs = Dips (using the parking lot curb)
  • Hearts = Squats
  • Diamonds =Monkey Humpers

Numbered cards represented their face value.  Jacks were worth 15 reps, Queens 20 reps, Kings 25 reps and Aces 30 reps. [Valuing the cards this way yielded a total of 144 reps of each exercise].  One PAX drew 4 cards, calculated the total number of each exercise to be done during that set based upon the cards drawn (which proved not to be so easy), and announced the reps to be completed.   The PAX  performed the exercises and then ran to far side of the parking lot and back for the next set.  Another PAX drew 4 cards and followed suit, with a total of 13 sets being completed.   A total of 144 Merkins, 144 Dips, 144 Squats, 144 Monkey Humpers and 1.3 miles were covered by the time the deck was finished.

We then moseyed back to the staring point.

MARY:   Performed democratically, with each PAX calling an exercise:  Flutterkicks, Penguin Crunches, LBCs, Hello Dollies and Word of the Day [in which we spelled “Buttermaker”]

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Splash is raising money to fight Leukemia.  Check his Twitter Feed.  Prayerfully consider what you can give/do to help
  • The Site Q torch for Village Idiocy was passed from Spamalot to Sassy after 13 months of successful leadership by Spamalot.  Well done and thanks, Spamalot!!  Sassy will do us all proud.

COT:

  • Prayers for Spamalot’s mother, who passed out unexpectedly at church on Sunday.  She seems to be OK, but something to monitor.
  • Prayers for Sassy’s mother, who is undergoing back surgery.  Sassy also lost his uncle last week unexpectedly, and his grandfather is in the final stages of his life’s journey.  Prayers to Sassy and his family during this difficult time.
  • YHC took us out, giving thanks to our Lord for the beautiful day, for the opportunity to exercise and fellowship with one another, and for giving us his Son, who died for our sins.   Prayers also for Spamalot’s mother and Sassy’s mother that their medical treatments will be successful and that they will make a full recovery.  Prayers for the life of Sassy’s uncle and for the life of his grandfather.  We prayed that when the time comes, that Sassy’s grandfather will be welcomed into His House, where there are many rooms, one of which is already joyfully occupied by Sassy’s uncle.

Thanks for allowing me the honor to lead!

Thanks Sgt. Schultz! It is my great uncle, but he might as well be considered a grandfather! 🙂 My mom is having a consultation tomorrow to consider back surgery, which, if successful, would be life-changing for her.

Not mentioned in COT, my uncle (another of my mom’s brothers, one of which passed away last week as mentioned above) is having surgery today for about the 3rd or 4th time to repair another leak between his esophagus and stomach from where they removed a cancerous portion of his esophagus. He has had a feeding tube the last 3 months or so while they try to fix this issue, but his spirits have been very high and low, more so low after the loss of his brother.

YHC certainly has a few family members that are in need of prayer. These health issues are a constant reminder to stay the course and to keep posting not just for the 1st F, but for the 2nd, and especially 3rd F. Thank you, men, for your support and SYITG.
