PAX: Fingers, Drama Queen, Zima, Cherry Pie, Van Pelt (Q).<\/p>\n
Preamble: Fingers invited me to Q Dawg Pound back when it was hot and dry.\u00a0 It had been some time since YHC had visited Dawg Pound, as evidenced later in the backblast.\u00a0 The forecast I viewed last night did not look very promising.\u00a0 Oh, well\u2026a commitment is a commitment.<\/p>\n
As YHC drove to Tanglewood, the dash board temp read 30 degrees and the windshield wipers could hardly keep up with the rain. Swell.\u00a0 This ought to be a lot of fun.\u00a0 While there is some shelter at Tanglewood, it is not plentiful and running any distance in the dry becomes a challenge.<\/p>\n
YHC sat in the car dreading the wet and gloom and then messaged our Site Q that he should feel no obligation to attend. A good day for a fartsack with no complaints or mumblechatter from anyone.\u00a0 Lo!\u00a0 Headlights.\u00a0 Dang it, I guess they are coming.\u00a0 Then, the truck passed and went to the RV area.\u00a0 Woo hoo!\u00a0 3 minutes more to wait.\u00a0 Then, here come more headlights; they actually pull into the lot.\u00a0 Then another. Then another.\u00a0 OK\u2026let\u2019s do this.<\/p>\n
YHC climbed into the rain and the cold to spot Fingers, DQ, and Zima. Consider yourself disclaimed.\u00a0 Off we went when, WAIT!\u00a0 Here comes another car.\u00a0 Double back, pick up Cherry Pie (now Zima has a friend to play with) and off we went again.<\/p>\n
The Thang: YHC missed the turn to the shelter, which several PAX quickly pointed out.\u00a0 \u2018Hey, there is shelter this way!\u00a0 Blah, blah, blah.\u2019\u00a0 Like I said, it\u2019s been a while.\u00a0 Keep on trucking, eventually finding shelter at the shelter (duh).\u00a0 Fingers states we have no lights, but voila\u2026we find the secret switch.\u00a0 Now, we can see each other, which I guess is a good thing.<\/p>\n
Warm Up with IW\u2019s, Abe Vigodas, Sun God forward, Sun God backward, low slow squats, and merkins.<\/p>\n
Rounds of 20: 20 dips, 20 derkins, 20 jump-ups or step ups.\u00a0 Then, get in your running by lapping the parking lot.\u00a0 Repeat for a total of 3 rounds.\u00a0 Hey, we are staying 50% drier.<\/p>\n
Plank Line: Line up in plank shoulder-to-shoulder.\u00a0 PAX 1 makes his way down line with 2 hand slap merkins for each of the other PAX.\u00a0 Continue until all have made it down the line.\u00a0 Crowd pleaser.\u00a0 50 LBC\u2019s and a lap around the lot.<\/p>\n
Repeato with hand slap merkins every other PAX. 50 low dolly and a lap.\u00a0 At this point, CP peels off for a nature break.\u00a0 We all rested.<\/p>\n
Thus, round 3 featured hand slap with every PAX again. Followed by 25 double-count flutter and a lap.<\/p>\n
Next, we had a virtual run to the tennis courts. Oh, we never left the dry of our shelter.\u00a0 Instead, we ran in place at a very fast pace, carrying us to the \u201ctennis courts\u201d in record time.<\/p>\n
4 corners. 20 molitov merkins\u2026.run to next corner (i.e. a lap around lot).\u00a0 20 running with scissors + lap.\u00a0 20 groiners + lap.\u00a0 20 burpees + lap.\u00a0 That was so much fun, we should do it again.\u00a0 We did cut reps down to 5 because we could.<\/p>\n
Last bit of fun was a ladder (10 down to 1). 10 low plank jacks + run.\u00a0 Then 9, 8, 7, etc.<\/p>\n
A fellowship-paced jog back to the launch. We tried to look strong, dry, warm, and un-winded when we came into the lot in order to impress the other running group gathering up.\u00a0 They were not fooled.<\/p>\n
YHC misjudged time and we went into OT. However, we all wanted to finish the low plank jack ladder, so PAX didn\u2019t jabber too much.<\/p>\n
Moleskine: Weather was not ideal, but the fellowship was unparalleled.\u00a0 That said, mubblechatter was reasonably low as we all had work to do.\u00a0 If you\u2019re out in 30 degree rain, you may as well work hard.<\/p>\n
Zima just finished a super beast ultra gargantium Spartan race. I think it was like 87 miles with 239 obstacles including snake charming, rhinoceros jousting, and lion taming.\u00a0 He claims he was still a little sore.\u00a0 Yea, yea.<\/p>\n
CP always puts in hard work and keeps Zima challenged on the runs and the reps. He made up for tardiness with a quick run to the shelter.<\/p>\n
Fingers puts in the reps and is not to be deterred by the young \u2018uns. He peeled off layers like a professional \u201cdancer\u201d only to have to suit back up for the jog back.<\/p>\n
DQ took a break from his side business of directing church dramas to join the crowd. He claimed he would have fartsacked if he had not had 4 previous days of fartsacking.\u00a0 Breaking the cycle\u2014nice job.<\/p>\n
Announcement: DQ\u2019s aforementioned drama will run this coming Saturday (Dec 1) at 6:00 p.m. and again on Sunday (Dec 2) at 9:00 a.m.\u00a0 Mt. Tabor Methodist.<\/p>\n
