At some point yesterday, YHC saw Cobra’s preblast for this week’s installment of Run N Gun. \u00a0Having never posted to said AO, a thought crept into my mind. \u00a0“You should totally go do it!” \u00a0It was soon followed by another “What, are you crazy? \u00a0You know who usually posts there?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Soon thereafter, YHC saw the beast who lives next door, aka Ripple. \u00a0He inquired if we were going to the Outhouse on Monday. \u00a0(Pause….exhale….) “I was actually going to post to Run N Gun.” (Who said that? \u00a0Why did you say that?). Oh well, it’s done now. \u00a0 It was agreed that YHC would drive. Meeting time 515.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to this morning. \u00a0YHC is sitting in my car, waiting for Ripple. 513….<\/p>\n

So, this is reallly happening? \u00a0“You don’t like running. Especially by yourself “. Whatever<\/p>\n

514…….”No lights on in their house….”<\/p>\n

515….hmmm. Maybe he is not coming. \u00a0Cool, if he is a no show, just go to The Outhouse. \u00a0“Wait….isn’t Cheesesteak the Q today? \u00a0He is one of those young athletic freaks….with a beard. \u00a0That’s sounds awful.<\/p>\n

516……I guess I could go to VI. \u00a0Man, that’s a longer drive.<\/p>\n

517…wait…Ripple is not coming….<\/p>\n

518….let’s go.<\/p>\n

Arriving at Whitaker Elementary, YHC saw some fast guys. And some that YHC does not normally see. \u00a0They are callled runners.<\/p>\n

At the appointed time, Cobra fired the “cannon” and we were off….<\/p>\n

Burena Vista to Robinhood….”that’s a little uphill…..ok….” \u00a0predictablely YHC fell hopelessly behind. \u00a0As we started the climb up to Robinhood, YHC could still see most of the Pax as they turned onto Robinhood.<\/p>\n

(time to take a peak at he watch. \u00a0 Pace…11:20\/mile. Huh, that’s faster than I thought. \u00a0And uphill…go figure)<\/p>\n

“Phew, hills suck \u00a0ok, just a little walking break \u00a0from this house to the traffic light. \u00a0 Hey, doesn’t Troybilts friend live around here somewhere?”<\/p>\n

Turn made onto Robinhood….heading to Stratford. \u00a0 Running again….”so that first mile was not too bad” “look at that, YHC can see a few of the Pax waaaay up ahead”<\/p>\n

wait, Robinhood is uphill? \u00a0don’t seem to notice that while driving . \u00a0Damn uphill!! \u00a0Ok, just a little farther and then walk….wait…..I am at the top of this hill…and can still breathe. \u00a0It would be so much easier to just walk a bit here….”when have you ever took the easy way out? \u00a0Is being married for over 24 years easy, or does it take work? \u00a0Is being a parent easy, or does it take work? How about the two bar exams you passed? \u00a0And running…you used to love running…why else did you run two half marathons in the late 1990s?”<\/p>\n

Before YHC knew it the route took us to Stratford…nice and flat….another peak at watch…pace was 10:50\/mile. Wow.<\/p>\n

Now where was the turn???<\/p>\n

Right on Forest…..smile and try not too look creepy to the walkers.<\/p>\n

Hey, there are two guys running towards me….none other than Bluto and Juice Box! \u00a0Thanks guys. We must almost be there….one more turn onto Dartmouth. \u00a0Last uphill…..done….that was not horrible….<\/p>\n

A lot of things run through my mind during our running workouts. \u00a0As time has gone by, I have discovered that fewer and fewer of them are self doubts. \u00a0Instead, they have been replaced by confidence \u00a0 Confidence that YHC can make it to that next light pole, or next house. \u00a0 Confidence that even though those fast guys are ahead of me, they will always come back for the six. \u00a0And I promise to make that a shorter trip for them.<\/p>\n
