IC

Burpees x 10 IC (well, sort of)

Merkins x ? IC

Overhead claps x ? IC

Seal claps x ? IC

Low flutters x 20 IC

LBCs x 20 IC

Irkins x 10 IC

While at the baseball stadium, we reverse bear crawled down the big hill adjacent to 1st Street that leads to t he parking lot, then we bear crawled back up.

NMM:

When YHC arrived at Bailey Park, I was pleasantly surprised to see The Vig. I flattered myself by saying to The Vig, “Dude, I really appreciate you coming out” to which he responded, “I have the Q.” To resolve this snafu, we both turned to the Site Q (Geppetto) to sort out the confusion. Due to the numerous pax and the darkness, we could not find Geppetto. So, to resolve the conflict, The Vig and YHC resorted to rock/paper/scissors (ignore the tweet from yesterday that claimed the resolution was via thumb wrestling- YHC knows better than to go head-to-head with The Vig at anything that involves physical prowess). The Vig threw rock and YHC threw paper (there is a metaphor here for those who are literary masters AND have ever witnessed The Vig and YHC work out together). Thus, the declaration, “WINNER WINNER, URBAN ASSAULT Q.”

YHC did roughly the same workout either one year ago, or two years ago (Starfish was there, but he couldn’t remember: “I’ve worked out a lot since then” #humblebrag- no, not humble), back in the days of yore when babies laughed, flowers bloomed, and UA launched from the 1st Pres. parking lot. (NOTE: the 1st Pres. parking lot is closer to some downtown attractions than others) The good thing about doing something you’ve done before is that your plan is guarantteed to be executed flawlessly.

YHC failed to take into consideration that not all the pax are elite runners such as myself when planning to run from Bailey Park to the baseball stadium and back, with enough stops along the way to justify calling it a boot camp workout.

On the way to the baseball stadium, YHC asked The Vig to “tell me when it’s 5:52” so that we could backtrack and get back to Bailey Park “a little before 6:15” #strategicplanner

When it was 5:52, The Vig told me, “Whirly, it’s 5:52.” As already mentioned, this was to be my bat signal to return to the bat cave…BUT…being the elite runner and genius that I am, I realized that the route to the baseball stadium was UPHILL…therefore, the route back to the baseball stadium must be DOWNHILL…therefore, we don’t need as much time to get BACK TO Bailey Park from the baseball stadium as we needed to GET TO the baseball stadium from Bailey Park #wrong

When we started the trek back to Bailey Park, YHC wanted to ensure that the thoroughbreds would get there money’s worth, so I told them to run back to Bailey Park, then come back for the 6, and gave very complicated instructions on how to get back to Bailey Park from where we were (on 1st Street): left on Main, right on 4th back to Bailey Park. Consequently,

Roughly 25% of the pax turned left on Main and right on 4th back to Bailey Park

Roughly 25% of the pax turned left on Main and right on 3rd to somewhere near Bailey Park

Roughly 25% of the pax turned left on Cherry and right on 4th back to Bailey Park

Roughly 25% of the pax turned left on Cherry and right on 3rd to somewhere near Bailey Park

YHC blames The Vig for this because he was the assigned Q for the workout, and he was a part of the gaggle of fasties leading the way back.

Despite The Vig’s epic leadership failure, all but two of the pax got back to Bailey Park by 6:15, at which point Starfish started doing higher math: “If Cagney’s started the day with a certain amount of bacon, and patrons get to Cagney’s before us and order bacon, there will be less bacon for us.” Suffice it to say that Starfish “pointed this out” to YHC.

Ziggy Stardust is new to us, and hasn’t quite become an elite runner such as myself just yet, but he hung in there pretty well. Thanks to Boomerang for looking out Ziggy.

YHC can run faster uphill than Snooki can run uphill backwards #thisactuallyhappened

Having heard about the resident from last week that politely asked the pax to “Shut the #&!$ up” while doing exercises in cadence in the vicinity of Bailey Park, YHC decided to wait until we were “not smack dab in the middle of Bailey Park” to do our first warmorama in cadence. YHC asked the pax to remind me not to do exercises in cadence if there was any chance of us waking anyone up…then we proceeded to 1st Street and woke up all of the residents that live on 1st Street. I blame The Vig for this, too.

While we were running down 1st Street, we encountered some of the fastholes #turfwar (NOTE: we were running MUCH faster than the fastholes were)

Today’s theme was baseball, so YHC said something about a single, double, triple, home run, strikes, curve ball. Other than that, it was really just running and doing stuff.

Announcements:

Coffeeteria right after the workout at Cagney’s #bethere

Whirly has the Q at IS tomorrow; we will run and do stuff, less running and more stuff #bethere

The Hop Swap (5K, 10K, half marathon, etc.) starts at 8:30 tomorrow (Saturday) #gosignuprightnow

Prayer requests:

Boomerang’s sister (Susan) had a biopsy to find out if she has a recurrence of liver cancer.

COT

YHC took us out with gratitude for the health that we enjoy, that’s easy to take for granted. We prayed for Boomerang’s sister and all of the medical professionals who are involved in her treatment.

On Friday, March 30, 2018 14 pax gathered at Bailey Park to celebrate the arrival of baseball season.
