{"id":3205,"date":"2017-11-04T09:29:31","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T13:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=3205"},"modified":"2017-11-04T09:29:31","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T13:29:31","slug":"were-not-going-to-take-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2017\/11\/were-not-going-to-take-it\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;re Not Going to Take it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1170\" height=\"878\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4xmckWVPRaI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" gesture=\"media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After nearly a month of hard core marketing, the day had finally arrived.\u00a0 Hockey was returning to Winston-Salem.\u00a0 10 Pax (please let YHC know if any were missed) presented themselves along with numerous 2.0s and even one brave M!<\/p>\n<p>After some light refreshments in the parking lot, we proceeded into the Annex.\u00a0 As a side note, YHC has played hockey at the Annex for 10 years, and it is quite odd and incredible to see so many people excited about hockey!\u00a0 Lots of fans, and a positive attitude all around!<\/p>\n<p>As we settled into our seats, the fun really began.\u00a0 In no particular order, here were some memorable points from the evening:<\/p>\n<p>Not sure when some of the Thunderbird players arrived in town.\u00a0 Many did not even have their name on their jersey.\u00a0 Rumor had it that one of the players was Whirly&#8217;s paralegal.\u00a0 #fakenews<\/p>\n<p>One of the three stars of the evening was the PA announcer.\u00a0 During player introductions, he failed to introduce the Tbirds backup goalie.\u00a0 So the guy simply skated out to the largest applause any player received.<\/p>\n<p>PA announcer asks that all rise for the National Anthem, and then &#8220;Kickstart My Heart&#8221; by Motley Crue starts playing.<\/p>\n<p>HOWEVER&#8230;for YHC the highlight of the night was the singer and his rendition of the National Anthem.\u00a0 We were graced by none other than Dee Snider of Twisted Sister!!\u00a0 Ok, not really Dee, but someone who clearly lives his life as a tribute to Dee.\u00a0 From the long, permed hair, to the ripped acid-washed jeans, this guy was on POINT!\u00a0 Then he opened his mouth&#8230;.and crushed it like any Hair Metal Band wantabe would.\u00a0 Brought a tear to YHCs eye.<\/p>\n<p>Game was nearly a sellout, as reportedly 3,000 fans showed up.\u00a0 Game was pretty good, some physical play and at times it resembled actual hockey.<\/p>\n<p>Major TCLAPS to Wobegon, for starting the ball rolling on this epic event.\u00a0 For those of you who missed out, make some time and go catch a game.\u00a0 Seeing hockey in person is a fantastic experience.<\/p>\n<p>If YHC missed any good MC or anything else, let everyone know.<\/p>\n<p>See you on the ice&#8230;and in the gloom!<\/p>\n<p>Spamalot<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After nearly a month of hard core marketing, the day had finally arrived.\u00a0 Hockey was returning to Winston-Salem.\u00a0 10 Pax (please let YHC know if any were missed) presented themselves along with numerous 2.0s and even one brave M!
