{"id":3116,"date":"2017-10-27T14:21:13","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T18:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=3116"},"modified":"2017-10-27T14:32:09","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T18:32:09","slug":"low-temps-flat-route-visual-competition-prs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2017\/10\/low-temps-flat-route-visual-competition-prs\/","title":{"rendered":"Low Temps + Flat Route + Visual &#8220;Competition&#8221; = PRs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Total of 27 OGs and Tractors did a relatively flat route through parallel streets of Buena Vista.\u00a0 If you are truly interested in the route, and I doubt you are, the link is here:<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.mapmyrun.com\/routes\/view\/1836652601<\/p>\n<p>COT<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mega on Saturday, Oct 28, meet at 1st Pres lot at 0600<\/li>\n<li>Purgatory is only F3 WS bootcamp tomorrow<\/li>\n<li>Prayers for Patch and others on one-week medical mission to Haiti leaving Oct 28<\/li>\n<li>Prayers for Whirly and his family in the passing of his mother<\/li>\n<li>YHC took us out with thanksgiving and lifting up the items mentioned above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NMM<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Believe it or not, I do<em> not<\/em> have a spreadsheet with everyone&#8217;s times on MapMyRun for all their runs.\u00a0 However, I do have a pretty good sense of how fast many guys run thanks to MMR and the consistency of OGs and Tractors.\u00a0 So, based on a quick review of the MMR feed, I am guessing there were a few PRs posted today &#8212; at least in the last few years of the runners&#8217; lives &#8212; I can&#8217;t speak to how fast you were at 23 years of age.<\/li>\n<li>YHC guesses that Winklevoss, Peacemaker and BoutTime were happy with their paces, among others.<\/li>\n<li>YHC attributes the speed to at least three things, as you can tell from the title of this BB:\u00a0 Low temps (42), flat route (relatively flat, under 300 feet of climb), and the sub-conscious push we give\/get when running near others.<\/li>\n<li>The out-n-back was intentional on my part, as I like to see who is in front and behind me, AND it offers opportunities for encouragement.\u00a0 YHC normally only hears &#8220;good job&#8221; when getting passed by the PAX, but this morning I was both met and passed, so I got two rounds of greetings.<\/li>\n<li>The out-n-back was also helpful to the Tractors, as they ran roughly 4 miles by skipping that trip up\/down Arbor.\u00a0 Worked out well.<\/li>\n<li>Just an observation, but Beverly, Mongoose and Walter White have high cadence (turnover) in that their feet touch the ground more frequently than mine do, thus their faster speeds.\u00a0 Beverly in particular has high cadence, I noticed this a.m.\u00a0 My friends Zuck, Patch and Winklevoss have similar cadences to mine (maybe a bit faster) but their stride lengths are 25-33% longer than mine, thus their faster speeds.\u00a0 At least YHC sweats and breathes faster and more than those guys.<\/li>\n<li>Balco and Mr Hand are strong amd steady as rocks.<\/li>\n<li>A huge group of dudes started out about 10 seconds ahead of me &#8212; too many to name &#8212; I never caught them.<\/li>\n<li>T-Claps to both Wiki and Fingers who ended up running most of the route alone due to early and late start times, respectively.
