Between the EMOM, the gauntlet, and the carries, time expired before the finisher could be launched.

Apparently removing the running simply created more opportunities to move rocks.

The Story

The Tour de Draftee officially kicked off Thursday morning at The Rock Quarry, where 8 HIMs gathered to answer a simple question:

“What if we removed the running and replaced it with more rocks?”

As it turns out, that was a terrible idea.

Green Acres handed over the keys to TRQ and the first stop of the Tour got underway with a blue-collar beatdown built around carrying, pressing, pushing, and otherwise making poor decisions with heavy objects before sunrise.

The Bear Crawl with a Push Gauntlet quickly became the star of the morning.

Surprisingly, nearly everyone loved it.

Well…everyone except Wobegon.

To be fair, Wobegon had to cut out early for work, but we can all agree that leaving before Bear Crawl with a Push becomes difficult is highly suspicious and should be noted for the official Tour record.

Meanwhile, Rollback absolutely rocked the event and made the entire thing look far easier than it should have. While some of us were fighting for survival, Rollback was casually moving his rock downrange like he had been training for this exact moment his entire life.

On the other side of the field, Draftee spent most of the workout trying unsuccessfully to keep pace with Pele, which felt less like exercising and more like chasing a moving target.

The carry circuit brought a new level of appreciation for the phrase “non-running workout.”

Many PAX have spent years believing that if there was no running involved, the workout must somehow be easier.

The Rock Quarry respectfully disagrees.

Without running, there was simply more time available to carry rocks.

More time to press rocks.

More time to hold rocks.

More time to question life choices involving rocks.

Tour Update

As for the Tour standings, it’s far too early for a leaderboard. The purpose of the Tour has never been about collecting points. It’s about collecting names, stories, and conversations.

Eight HIMs posted at TRQ, which means eight opportunities to connect with someone you don’t know at all or don’t know well.

The points will sort themselves out later.

Show up. Lift your brother up. Bring an FNG.

That said, the rematch between Rollback and Dr. Toot appears very much alive. Neither party made any formal declarations, but the competitive undertones were impossible to miss. While those two may grab the headlines, there were six other HIMs who showed up and showed out at TRQ.

Next Stop

Stop #1 is in the books.

Twenty-one stops remain.

Next stop: Tractors, OG’s.

See you in the gloom.

The Thang After a brief warmup, the PAX got acquainted with their rocks through a Quarry Labor EMOM consisting of: Rock Thrusters Merkins on Rock Rock Curls to Press American Hammers with Rock Three rounds later, shoulders, chest, and core had officially checked in.
