Today we honored the Battle of Alamance \u2014 May 16, 1771 \u2014 fought just down the road near Burlington. The Regulators were protesting corrupt taxation and abuse by colonial officials. Many historians see this as one of the sparks that eventually ignited the American Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n
