There were probably some newer pax that had not ventured to that part of the AO. A plan was hatched.

YHC rolled in early to get set up and got a ruck lap around the also rarely used football field. Upon my return several pax had appeared and as we approached launch more rolled in for a nice crowd for a mild spring morning.

We knocked out a short warmorama and then it was a slowsy to the back of the school where we found the best hill in the Dash equipped with a couple of cardboards and lights.

I borrowed the concept from Burns’ Mayhem beatdown last Wednesday which had entirely too much running. It was a three man grinder up the hill with various exercises at top and bottom. Original plan of transport was bear crawl up and walk back down – more about that later.

Exercises at bottom were:

Merkins, Squats, Mike Tysons, Alt Lunges, Diamond Merkins, Rev Alt Lunges, Nolan Ryans

Top of hill:

All abs – LBCs, Freddie Mercs, OAK taps, Heels to Heaven, WWIIs, Penguin Crunch, Low Dollies

We paired up in 3s and I think one group of 4 and got with it for about 35 minutes. Each pax had to take two turns at each exercise before moving down the list.

Back to launch and just enough time for a couple of quick rounds of Sumo Drill and we’re done.

NMM

Thanks again to Head Hunter for stepping up for my forgetful self last week. He also knocked out a sad clown pre workout Murph. His goal is 52 for the year and he is on a great pace with 20+ already. Come join him some Tuesday or Saturday

Good to see the continued double digit attendance for Parliament – makes the founder proud

Some pax were indeed surprised that there is more to this AO than parking lots, walls, blocks and benches. It truly is a beast of a hill and we should get back there more often

Music story – YHC had planned to do a hill/mountain playlist but was running out of songs fast (where’s Starfish when you need him) so I pulled up Mountain Songs on Spotify and there was a playlist that didn’t really have anything to do with mountains but I liked a lot of the artists. Thumbs up from Adobe and thumbs down from Ziffel. Rest of pax were too busy working to care about music.

By far the highlight of the morning and one of my more memorable sights of getting up this early was a short glimpse of a SpaceX rocket going across the eastern sky. No one knew at the time what it was and we were hopeful it was not aliens, Iran or a lost astronaut. No time for a picture but check some out online – pretty cool.

Omaha called on bear crawls and we moved to backwards walk. This brought so much enjoyment from pax we later Omahaed again to Apollo Creeds. I believe it was Blind Date who said we could walk up like normal people to which I responded “We’re not normal”

Not sure any team completed the list. Adobe and Blind Date and I got to Diamond Merkins and WWIIs.

Speaking of merkins – hadn’t thought about the spelling in a while but at today’s Samaritan workout when Data was explaining why we call pushups American style – shouldn’t we then spell it mercans? I’ll leave that question out there for debate but from now on it’s mercans for me.

Quick Sumo Drill back at launch – always a crowd pleaser and the heavyweight bout featured Ziffel and Tonka with Ziffel putting Tonka in a fireman’s carry and up on his shoulders with a squat finish. The Mighty Igor would be proud. If you know that reference we can be friends.

Ziggy lead several of us in Q Source after – make that a part of your Tuesday if you can

COT

Lots of opps for community leadership – Samaritan, Greenest – keep an eye on Slack

Prayer requests – healing for those going through surgery and sickness, those dealing with loss and those experiencing new lives, and Peace for the world.

Always an honor

DQ

After a double respect calendar fail last week, YHC was ready to get back to Tuesday’s finest nonrunning workout which has seen attendance increases as strong as gas price hikes in recent weeks.
