{"id":25487,"date":"2025-07-23T16:46:30","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T20:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=25487"},"modified":"2025-07-23T16:58:04","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T20:58:04","slug":"3-miles-to-nowhere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2025\/07\/3-miles-to-nowhere\/","title":{"rendered":"3+ Miles to Nowhere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mayhem is a long ways (~12 minutes) from YHC\u2019s house, exceeded in travel time only by the DelMarVa workouts at Launch Pad and Rural Assault.\u00a0 YHC was feeling behind when pulling out of the driveway at 0505, knowing that some setup was required upon arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the Statesville Road Construction project on Meadowlark Drive is much calmer during the summertime, less traffic delays and whatnot.\u00a0 YHC wheeled into the driveway, sped past a burpeeing Rollback, and headed to the bus lot in the back.\u00a0 After prop setup was complete, YHC headed back to launch and struck up a conversation with the site-Q.\u00a0 Whilst we were chatting, Workbench and Huckleberry(!) snuck in, followed by several others.\u00a0 Last of all, just as we were starting SSHs, Ziffel, initially mistaken for Zima, ran in.\u00a0 The pax lineup complete, here\u2019s what happened.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Warmarama:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SSHs, Standing Hammies, Abe Vigodas (much EC erupted here, extremities of the Vigoda-pace divide were represented), Whirlies, Cherry Pies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>The Thang:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mosey to the bus lot where pax found parking laid out with six cones; YHC flipped the hand-carried weinke to reveal\u2026The Beast<sup>TM<\/sup>. Six rounds of six exerecises with six reps each.\u00a0 216 reps total.\u00a0 Stations were:\n<ul>\n<li>Divebombers<\/li>\n<li>Blairs (Squat + Bonnie Blair)<\/li>\n<li>Alabama Prom Dates<\/li>\n<li>SSHs<\/li>\n<li>Hillbillies<\/li>\n<li>Burpees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Upon completion, mosey back towards launch but take a right up the Hill to Nowhere<sup>TM<\/sup> for Sevens:\n<ul>\n<li>Hand-Release Merkins x 1 at the bottom. Increase by one each round.<\/li>\n<li>(Super) Star Jumps x 6 at the top. Decrease by one each round.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We arrived back at launch with 20 seconds to spare, so we did SSHs AMRAP until time was called.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Announcements:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MayHIM, a once-monthly half-workout (30 minutes), half-conversation (30 minutes), begins Wednesday, August 27<sup>th<\/sup> at 0515 with site-Q Rollback taking the reins. RB will post a discussion on Slack a couple of days ahead of time, \u201csimple, straight-forward, non-argumentative, non-controversial, no specific faith required\u201d.\u00a0 Bringing a beer is optional.<\/li>\n<li>F3\/FiA Splash &amp; Dash Day in Yadkinville, August 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 8:30 am \u2013 1:00 pm. 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Fs all available, including family friendly workout.<\/li>\n<li>The Turnberry is returning!\u00a0 Look for announcements on the CSAUP channel for sometime in early October (before deer season).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Prayer Requests:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lamb Chop\u2019s M as they near the arrival of their baby.<\/li>\n<li>Van Gogh\u2019s FiL, Harold, experiencing panic attacks.<\/li>\n<li>Those struggling with addiction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>YHC prayed us out.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>NMM:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quiet crowd this morning that was there for business.<\/li>\n<li>YHC told Rollback he could reduce his daily burpee target by 36 in anticipation of the Beast. Rollback didn\u2019t miss a beat and responded, \u201cI\u2019ll bank them for another day\u201d, and continued flopping to the ground.\u00a0 It was good to catch up with him.<\/li>\n<li>YHC had a happy surprise to look up and see Huck standing there in the parking lot due to his usual scheduling conflicts on Wednesdays; reminded me of the News Crew in the original Anchorman: \u201cWe\u2019ve been here the whole time.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>YHC was so taken aback by Huck\u2019s appearance that Workbench was then confused by YHC for Rollback. Not sure the product of Coral Gables took that well, but he seemed to get over it quickly enough.<\/li>\n<li>Not that he had much choice. The Beast, usually a primetime routine, was merely the warm-up this morning.\u00a0 The old ticker went from the low-130s during that portion to the mid-150s during the hill runs.\u00a0 Huck demanded higher-rep quotas on Alabama Prom Dates, stating, \u201cSix is not worth laying down and getting back up for.\u201d\u00a0 So, we did 18 the last round.<\/li>\n<li>Workbench has some flow going on top of his head. He must be using Pert Plus.<\/li>\n<li>We were just getting started with warmarama when Ziffel cruised in. As mentioned, YHC initially thought Zima had left his boys at home alone while sleeping but didn\u2019t hear any wheezing coming from the runner.\u00a0 YHC can\u2019t remember the last time paths were crossed with Ziffel, possibly 2 years (!?).\u00a0 Aside from manly grunts, mainly in Van Gogh\u2019s direction (mating calls?), Ziffel was a silent assassin who ran out post-workout as effortlessly as he arrived.<\/li>\n<li>YHC didn\u2019t get the chance to inquire with Cruiser on whether Schlitz\u2019s claims of being ignored by his fellow pax last Thursday had any basis in truth. Missed opportunity.\u00a0 Cruiser seems like he\u2019s in Ragnar form even though he\u2019s not going this year.\u00a0 We\u2019ll put him on the substitute roster.<\/li>\n<li>Blind Date (BD) and Tweety Bird hung together and got faster on their hill runs as time went by. BD said that the workout put 4 extra years on his life during COT.<\/li>\n<li>Wahoo said nothing except his name during CoT. I have no content to work with, but just glad he came this morning.<\/li>\n<li>Van Gogh <em>has <\/em>run OGs before. That seemed to be a revelation for Rollback.\u00a0 Possible new super-team in the making there for Black Loop?\u00a0 VG\u2019s and YHC\u2019s smart watches concurred that we got 3+ miles in this morning.<\/li>\n<li>There was a herd of deer (does and fawns) in the grassy area south of Jamison Park. Which triggered VG to relate how he had seen a 12-point buck in his back yard yesterday!<\/li>\n<li>Major friend-fail on YHC\u2019s part.
