The Iron Throne was once again the venue as we continued our year long survey of strange British games.\u00a0 8 strong lads gathered in the pre dawn gloom to work on the basics of Rugby Union, a hooligans game played by gentlemen.
\nAfter standard opening pleasantries – we moseyed over to the pitch.<\/p>\n
One key to rugby is to win your set pieces, so we started working on our line out jumps with a squat to overhead press using blocks in lieu of an actual rugby ball.<\/p>\n
Of equal importance is to win the break down, so we practiced staying low and getting in a strong ‘jackal’ position over the ball by doing plank jack burpees\/navy seal burpees.<\/p>\n
We did a 15-1 ascending\/descending ladder in honor of there being 15 players on a rugby pitch.\u00a0 15 SOHP \/ 1 Burpees until you get to 1 SOHP \/ 15 Burpees.<\/p>\n
Based on the chatter in the squad it seems the burpees were especially\u00a0enjoyed and appreciated.\u00a0 Rugby Union is a simple, brutal game after all.<\/p>\n
As the clock ticked into the red – we had just\u00a0enough time for a long mosey back to finish with a Welshman’s Mary.\u00a0 Some WW2’s were done, will leave to Lamb Chop and Dr. Toot to declare their totals.<\/p>\n
