{"id":21537,"date":"2023-03-18T10:37:40","date_gmt":"2023-03-18T14:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=21537"},"modified":"2023-03-18T10:37:40","modified_gmt":"2023-03-18T14:37:40","slug":"cruising-stratford-road-in-1982","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2023\/03\/cruising-stratford-road-in-1982\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruising Stratford Road in 1982!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Six pax went all the way back to the summer of 1982 with YHC at Purgatory. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Just like high school, we were hanging out in the parking lot just chilling listening to early 1980\u2019s tunes on my 8 track player.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All of a sudden, we realized we were late to pick up our buddy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All six of us immediately crammed into @Greenacres station wagon, leaving the Dodge Charger behind so we could all ride together.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We stopped along the way for a few quick warm up exercises until we reached our buddy\u2019s home in the back of the school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We each picked up a buddy (aka a rock) and headed to Putt Putt on Stratford at the side of the school. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The games at Putt Putt were not nearly as fun as anyone remembered.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They went something like this. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">8 lunges<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">16 merkins<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">24 squat jumps<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">32 curls<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">40 SSH<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">48 LBC<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">56 air claps <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">You and your buddy cruise from Putt Putt to Mayberrys at the next intersection and back.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Being teenagers and lacking good judgement, we repeated the games\/cruising combo 8 times. It had to be 8 to please the math gods (including @Burlap even though he was only present in spirit). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">@Starfish was getting after it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>@BAM told us he had to leave early due to a curfew at home.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The rumor he actually left because he couldnt handle the workout with the extra weight from his vest are totally untrue.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>@Singing cowboy and I were at a similar pace, and got to cruise together often.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As per usual, he was full of bits of insightful comments on life and willing to share a smile.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>@D-day and I tried to high 5 while cruising but carrying a buddy made it look kinda stupid.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>@Greenacres just always gets it done &#8211; zero complaints. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Eventually, the rest of us started to make our way back and dropped off our buddies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Along the way, we got bored and still lacking good judgement, decided to drag race (aka sprint) between the street lights in the parking lot.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>No one was pulled for speeding by the cops.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Anyone fast enough to actually be pulled by the cops, probably wisely avoided a @Goofy Q. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finally we hung out back in the parking lot, did some Mary exercises, then just chilled again, made some announcements and talked about some prayer concerns, including that life is just really really hard sometime.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Before we all headed out, we circled up in a ball of man and prayed for @starfish, @frostbite and family.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A few of us not being ready to go home, decided we would go hang out at a local fast food joint. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Great to be with each of you.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Thanks again for the keys @Undertow.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I even put in an Asia song in the playlist just for you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Playlist is here <a href=\"https:\/\/spotify.link\/q3cgoCiGgyb\">https:\/\/spotify.link\/q3cgoCiGgyb<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six pax went all the way back to the summer of 1982 with YHC at Purgatory.
