{"id":18389,"date":"2022-01-03T14:49:43","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T18:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=18389"},"modified":"2022-01-03T14:49:43","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T18:49:43","slug":"breakfast-at-midtown-cafe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2022\/01\/breakfast-at-midtown-cafe\/","title":{"rendered":"Breakfast at Midtown Cafe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s how it went.\u00a0 YHC, TSC, and Schneider arrived at 0500 for an EC run.\u00a0 As we were sitting there, the weather deteriorated to the point that we all retreated to our respective vehicles until 0530.\u00a0 YHC drafted a replacement workout in the unlikely event that people would show up and want to brave the elements.\u00a0 While sitting in said vehicles, the weather continued to worsen, and we texted a rough plan to leave for breakfast at Waffle House.\u00a0 Huckleberry then rolled in.\u00a0 We got him on the Waffle House bandwagon (which tells you how bad things were).\u00a0 Boomerang was our next convert.\u00a0 Then, just as we are about to hit the eject button, one of Zima\u2019s six vehicles (the truck) rolls in.\u00a0 This commentary ensued over text message:<\/p>\n<p>Pax 1: \u00a0\u201cHere comes Zima.\u00a0 There goes breakfast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pax 2:\u00a0 \u201cZima is hardcore, and I think Spicoli will show [he did, 17 minutes later], and he\u2019s the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pax 3:\u00a0 \u201cDammit, Zima.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We all reluctantly exited our vehicles and then sprinted to the shelter with all pax making sure to get at least one splash in the pond.\u00a0 Gathered under the shelter with rain literally blowing sideways into our persons, YHC mustered up the unction to fulfill the honors of Qing a fine bunch of idiots.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Warmarama:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SSHs, Cherry Pies (uneven, to annoy Zima), standing hamstring stretch.\u00a0 Okay, we\u2019re getting too wet too continue this.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The Thang:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the fly, YHC pulled out \u201cHammer Time\u201d.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Burpee every time \u201ccan\u2019t touch this\u201d is said.<\/li>\n<li>American Hammer anytime Hammer says, \u201cbreak it down\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Cease American Hammer when Hammer says, \u201cstop, hammer time\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Carioca back and forth under the shelter at all other point<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>YHC then pulled out the workout drafted while waiting for others to join us for breakfast.\u00a0 Tabata, 30 seconds on, 10 seconds off.\u00a0 Then run the perimeter of the parking lot in the rain.<\/p>\n<p>Set 1:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dive bombers<\/li>\n<li>Squats<\/li>\n<li>WW2s<\/li>\n<li>ISTs (Zima was requested to call out cadence at this point but passed)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set 2:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Merkins<\/li>\n<li>Alternating lunges<\/li>\n<li>Heels to Heaven<\/li>\n<li>Hillbillies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set 3:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diamond merkins<\/li>\n<li>Russian deadlifts<\/li>\n<li>Cobra crunch<\/li>\n<li>Plank jacks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set 4:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Burpees<\/li>\n<li>Dans<\/li>\n<li>WW3s<\/li>\n<li>Mountain climbers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set 5:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hand-release merkins<\/li>\n<li>Side lunges<\/li>\n<li>Flight attendants<\/li>\n<li>High knees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Set 6:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Molotov merkins<\/li>\n<li>Alternating Lunges (in lieu of step-ups)<\/li>\n<li>Jane Fondas<\/li>\n<li>Shoulder tap + plank jack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Six minutes left.\u00a0 We alternated between holding plank and Freddie Mercs (IC).<\/p>\n<p>0615:\u00a0 Where\u2019s the ark?<\/p>\n<p>NMM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This really was the worst weather YHC has ever worked out in. At least one tree in the Y parking lot uprooted during the workout.\u00a0 Huck and Zima wanted to grab it and start a Go Ruck event.<\/li>\n<li>TSC and DQ engaged in a beautiful conversation about Johnny Cash lyrics to the tune of Bon Jovi.<\/li>\n<li>Seaman rolled through the workout, taking advantage of his sea legs.<\/li>\n<li>Boomerang and Schneider commiserated about the stupidity of doing exercised on the wet ground under the shelter.<\/li>\n<li>As mentioned, Spicoli arrived right on queue, jumped in the puddle, and put in solid work.<\/li>\n<li>Zima sprinted around the parking lot and led the pax each time. He was determined to get his money\u2019s worth this morning.<\/li>\n<li>Huck took a look at the other side of the weinke and spat at the cardboard; the wind took his spittle directly into YHC\u2019s face.
