{"id":14656,"date":"2021-01-25T09:27:46","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T13:27:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=14656"},"modified":"2021-04-29T16:38:50","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T20:38:50","slug":"knollwood-weather-flat-route-big-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2021\/01\/knollwood-weather-flat-route-big-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Knollwood + weather + flat route = big numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fifteen men rolled into #RNG with a pleasant 43 degrees and some humidity but no rain.\u00a0 &#8216;BoutTime let the Q know that he was running only, as he had a very important date with his daughter at a spin class at 0630.\u00a0 Then we set off.\u00a0 By the time we turned off Knollwood onto Biting, we were essentially in small groups of 3 or less &#8212; HOG, Burns, and Greenspan;\u00a0 then, Balco, Mongoose, and Zuck; then, JB, Glazer, and &#8216;BoutTime; then Mutton and YHC with Closer zooming past us to catch the others; then, Bluto, Cheerio, and BAM.\u00a0 I am not sure if Closer or others caught up with other groups or split up or fell back;\u00a0 I just know that I didn&#8217;t see anyone closely but Mutton, and there were vague little lights ahead that dimmed with every mile.<\/p>\n<p>There were at least a half-dozen other runners on our route running towards us.\u00a0 Mutton and YHC said, &#8220;Hello&#8221; to each of them, but I never heard a response.\u00a0 We were running on the left on Arbor &#8212; the correct side of the road for pedestrians in the U.S. &#8212; and nearly had to push a group of three ladies over who were running at us on their right.\u00a0 They finally nudged toward the center lane so that we didn&#8217;t have to run through the leaves in the gutter.<\/p>\n<p>We made it back to the well lit side doors of Knollwood&#8217;s sanctuary where we set up for Tabata.\u00a0 We used the traditional 20 seconds on and 10 seconds of rest for eight rounds, but instead of alternating A and B exercises, we did the same exercise for all eight rounds.\u00a0 We started with mountain climbers and nearly wore our shoulders out.\u00a0 Then moved to eight rounds of low flutters.\u00a0 We finished with alternating deep side squats, and ended a minute or two early.<\/p>\n<p>Without a blaring speaker, Pax could only enjoy three quiet songs by R.E.M. (&#8220;Orange Crush&#8221;), Metallica (can&#8217;t recall which one), and Al Green (&#8220;Let&#8217;s Stay Together&#8221;).\u00a0 These were from my Spotify library that I have labeled &#8220;Random for Workout&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>BAM was unavailable for the Tabata portion due to other gastro-intestinal commitments, according to Pax close to the situation.<\/p>\n<p>JuiceBox finished the workout with only a small amount of blood spilling from his knees.\u00a0 He took a tumble on Greenwich, I believe, while running fast with Glazer and listening to a Glazer story.\u00a0\u00a0 Turns out he tripped on some buckled asphalt &#8212; the same asphalt that Glazer tripped upon during his run into RNG.\u00a0\u00a0It was when JB tumbled forward onto knees, hands, and face that Glazer thought, &#8220;maybe I should warn JB about the pavement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lots of the PAX in attendance are leading workouts later this week including Zuck at BNW, Closer at the new jumprope-themed Double Dutch on Thursday (a roaming AO &#8212; watch Twitter and Slack), and Burns at Friday&#8217;s BBBC from Southwest Elementary, home of the Owls and Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer requests included two from Mutton &#8212; his mother is 91 and is diagnosed with Covid but seems to have little to no symptoms.\u00a0 And his brother-in-law who has had myeloma for nine years has been approved for a clinical trial.
